  • Patent number: 8447135
Abstract: A process is proposed for using a degraded first image to generate a visually pleasing second image, which is a stationary point of an Euler's Elastica energy. The Euler's Elastica problem is converted into a well-designed constrained minimization which an Augmented Lagrangian method can be applied. The invention has applications to variational image denoising, repairing image inpainting, and image zooming. Certain embodiments of the invention have been found to be fast to converge and simple to implement.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 2, 2011
Date of Patent: May 21, 2013
    Assignee: Nanyang Technological University
Inventors: Xue-Cheng Tai, Jooyoung Hahn, Jason Chung
