  • Patent number: 4615372
Abstract: The addition of the metal drier to the phenolic urethane binder enhances the breakdown of the binder when the system is subjected to the elevated temperatures caused by pouring the molten metal into the mold and enhances the subsequent shake out of the sand from the cores and molds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 1985
Date of Patent: October 7, 1986
    Assignee: Delta Resins & Refractories
Inventors: Jordan J. Kopac, Arek Khachaturian
  • Patent number: 4568728
Abstract: A foundry binder for preparing shaped foundry products, said binder having improved breakdown, which binder comprises:(a) a resin component organic resin alkyd resins, furan resins, shell phenolic resins or acid setting phenolic resin and(b) a catalystic amount of a metal drier.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 16, 1984
Date of Patent: February 4, 1986
    Assignee: Delta Resins & Refractories
Inventors: Jordan J. Kopac, Arek Khachaturian
  • Patent number: 4148777
Abstract: An improved binder composition for use in the foundry process comprises a mixture of low molecular weight essentially mononuclear methylolated phenols which are cured through a reaction with a polyisocyanate. In the preferred embodiment, a minor amount of polyether polyol, a mutual solvent and a catalyst, preferably an amine catalyst, is mixed with the phenolic component.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 9, 1977
Date of Patent: April 10, 1979
    Assignee: Delta Oil Products Corporation
Inventors: Russell A. LaBar, Jordan J. Kopac
  • Patent number: 4079031
Abstract: An improved binder resin is disclosed for use in a foundry process, comprising a major proportion of a resole phenolic resin and a minor proportion of a polyether polyol and a mutual solvent therefor, wherein the polyol has an average molecular weight between about 200 and 5000 and a hydroxy functionality of about 2 to 4. The improved binder is used in the foundry process by mixing it with a polyisocyanate and preferably an amine catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 1976
Date of Patent: March 14, 1978
    Assignee: Delta Oil Products Corporation
