  • Patent number: 10676190
Abstract: An autorotating unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has a data acquisition system and a rotor assembly including a hub that couples the rotor assembly to the UAV. Although not limited thereto, the UAV is suitable for collecting data about the inside of a cavity. The data acquisition system includes a processor and one or more sensors that obtain data about motion of the UAV and at least one parameter of the cavity as the UAV descends though the cavity. Features of the cavity may be mapped by generating a 3D point cloud from the data. The cavity may be natural or man-made, such as a mine.

  • Patent number: 7314718
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of performing analyses and assays involving multiple interactions of reagent-containing fluid flows with liquid and solid target substances. The methods of the invention allow the simultaneous manipulation of different fluids on a small planar surface. The invention also provides a flow cell and method of use thereof for analyzing fluid-fluid and fluid-solid interactions in a substantially planar system. The flow cell contains at least one chamber and a plurality of inlets thereto allowing the introduction of a plurality of fluids in fluidic contact. The cell depth is the smallest dimension of the flow cell, and is of a magnitude, from about 50 to about 1000 microns such that any mixing of adjacent fluids in the chamber is substantially limited to mixing by passive diffusion.

  • Patent number: 6657188
Abstract: Neutral particles, such as atoms and molecules, transported along a path having at least one curved region are selectively conveyed or filtered according to each particle's velocity by generating an inhomogeneous magnetic field across a cross-section of the path. The neutral particles may be transported through a physical tube or simply through the region defined by the magnetic field. The path may have more than one curved region and may additionally have one or more straight regions. The magnetic field may be generated for example by homogeneously or inhomogeneously magnetized permanent magnets or by current carrying elements. The magnetic elements may additionally be used in conjunction with at least one piece of a high permeability magnetic material for focussing or containing the magnetic field.
