  • Patent number: 9290617
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the covalent immobilization of biomolecules on polymers for delivery of the biomolecules, which has the advantage of being simple, highly efficient, environmentally friendly and free of side products relative to traditional immobilization techniques. The invention provides a modified micro/nanoparticle system, which uses a functionalized polymer formed into micro or nanoparticles to bind a molecule to the particles using uses facile chemistry, the Diels-Alder cycloaddition between a diene and a dienophile with the polymer being functionalized with one of them and the molecule with the other, or the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between a terminal alkyne and an azide to bind the molecule to the particle. The molecules and/or other therapeutic agents may be encapsulated within the polymer particles for intravenous therapeutic delivery.

  • Publication number: 20150104741
Abstract: Toner additives for imparting certain properties to printed images. In particular, toner additives that provide desired tunable gloss levels. The present toner additives comprise polyolefins. The incorporation of such additives into toners, in particular, emulsion aggregation (EA) toners, have provided gloss control without any significant adverse impact on the minimum fix properties of the toner.

  • Patent number: 8629197
Abstract: A chemically patterned modified hydrogel formed from a modified hydrogel is provided. The hydrogel is conjugated with a multiphoton photocleavable molecule. The molecule has a multiphoton-labile protective group and a protected group. The protective group is cleavable upon multiphoton excitation to deprotect the protected group, without substantial polymerization of the hydrogel. The chemically patterned modified hydrogel is formed by exposing the modified hydrogel to multiphoton excitation to deprotect a portion of the protected groups.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8211600
Abstract: The present disclosure provides processes for producing images of excellent color fidelity when incorporating a magenta toner with a lower colorant loading in addition to a first magenta toner. In embodiments, the magenta pigmented particles may be magenta emulsion aggregation toners. In accordance with the present disclosure, a pair of magenta toners are matched in color, wherein the color of a first magenta toner printed at a predetermined halftone area coverage on a substrate substantially matches the color of the solid (100%) printed patch of the second magenta toner, which is lighter than the first magenta toner, thus avoiding a visible hue shift on the print that would otherwise be objectionable.

  • Publication number: 20090104373
Abstract: Disclosed is methods for applying a radiation curable fluorescent varnish to a document and authenticating the document via the radiation curable fluorescent varnish. The ultraviolet radiation curable fluorescent varnish comprising at least one curable monomer or oligomer, at least one photoinitiator, and at least one fluorescent material, wherein upon exposure to activating radiation, the fluorescent material fluoresces to cause a visible change in the appearance of the ultraviolet radiation curable fluorescent varnish. The methods include determining a location of printed portions of an image on a substrate and digitally printing the ultraviolet radiation curable fluorescent varnish onto the substrate in image registration only upon one or more portions of the determined printed portions on the substrate.
