Abstract: Wound healing is a process by which these wounds on the skin of a subject heal and eventually close. When the injured surface is large, becomes infected, or in patients with poor healing capacity such as diabetics or the elderly or bedridden patients, then wound healing can be prolonged and lead to chronic ulceration and further complications with even limb loss or increased morbidity and mortality. This invention is directed to a topical formulation for promoting wound healing, and wound dressings and bandages comprising the same.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is are methods of preventing, reducing or inhibiting a viral or immune disorder, comprising administering to a subject at risk or that has acquired a viral or immune disorder an effective amount of a composition comprising a polypeptide derived from a reactive center loop of a serine protease inhibitor or a biologically active variant thereof, wherein the subject has not been administered antibiotics within at least one day of administering the composition. Also disclosed are compositions and kits for preventing, reducing or inhibiting a viral or immune disorder.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are topical compositions for treating wounds. The topically compositions include a Serp-1 polypeptide or a nucleic acid encoding a Serp-1 polypeptide. Also disclosed are methods of treating a wound in subject. The methods include administering a topical formulation that includes a Serp-1 polypeptide or a nucleic acid encoding a Serp-1 polypeptide to the wound.
