  • Patent number: 10634813
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards a safety system that can be used with a high-flux power beam, such as in wireless power transmission. The system includes a transmitter that generates and transmits a power beam and a receiver that receives the power beam. A plurality of sensors is configured to independently detect if an object is near, impeding, or about to impede (i.e., impinging) the power beam. Each of the plurality of sensors is configured to detect the object at different distances between the transmitter and the receiver. A controller triggers the transmitter to stop generating the power beam when any one or more of the plurality of sensors detects the object or a combination of the plurality of sensors detects the object. The controller triggers the transmitter to re-generate and transmit the power beam when each of the plurality of sensors fails to detect the object.

  • Publication number: 20200090805
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring compliance of a patient with a prescribed treatment regimen are described. Patient activity is detected unobtrusively with an activity sensor at the patient location, and activity data is transmitted to a monitoring location. Patient speech detected during use of a communication system such as a mobile telephone by the patient may also be used as an activity signal. Patient activity and/or speech is processed at the patient location or monitoring location to identify activity parameters or patterns that indicate whether the patient has complied with the prescribed treatment regimen. The activity sensor and other components at the patient location may be incorporated into, or associated with, a cell phone, computing system, game system, or vehicle system, for example. The system may provide a report to an interested party, for example a medical care provider or insurance company, regarding patient compliance with the prescribed treatment regimen.

  • Patent number: 10559380
Abstract: Structures and protocols are presented for signaling a status or decision (processing or transmitting a medical record or other resource, e.g.) conditionally. Such signaling may be partly based on one or more symptoms, regimen attributes, performance indicia (compliance indications, e.g.), privacy considerations (patient consent, e.g.), contextual considerations (being in or admitted by a care facility, e.g.), sensor data, or other such determinants. In some contexts this may trigger an incentive being manifested (as a dispensation of an item, e.g.), an intercommunication (telephone call, e.g.) beginning, a device being configured (enabled or customized, e.g.), data distillations being presented or tracked, or other such results.

Abstract: A nerve modulation device includes a first ultrasound transducer and a second ultrasound transducer. The first and second ultrasound transducers are configured to emit a first and second ultrasound waves, respectively, that exhibit different frequencies. The first and second ultrasound transducers can emit the first and second ultrasound waves in directions that are selected to cause the first and second ultrasound waves to intersect with each other at an intersection site that is at or near a selected nerve. At the intersection site, the first and second ultrasound waves can non-linearly interact to form an acoustic wave exhibiting a frequency that is less than the frequencies of the first and second ultrasound waves.
