  • Patent number: 7955456
Abstract: A method is disclosed for printing a blister film web in a packaging machine, in which molded blister shells are closed with blister film. In the method, a blister film web is supplied to a sealing apparatus via a first transport system, and molded blister shells are supplied to the sealing apparatus via a second transport system. The position of one of the molded blister shells is detected, and at least one detection signal is generated in one or more time intervals between the action time intervals of the sealing apparatus for closing the molded blister shells. A trigger signal for a printing device is generated in dependence on a detection, and optical information is applied to the blister film web by the printing device at a position along the blister film web which is arranged upstream of the sealing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7561175
Abstract: A method and a device adapt the number of stepping motor cycles K to a temperature-dependent length change of a feed spindle in an exposer for recording printing originals. The length change is measured via a reference rod, which is disposed parallel to the feed direction of the exposure head carrier. A reference distance is disposed on the reference rod. The exposure head carrier is located on a feed spindle, which is driven by a stepping motor. A number K0 of cycles of the stepping motor per revolution of the exposure drum for a specific printing result is determined once. A corrected number Kk of stepping motor cycles for achieving the same printed result is then determined as a function of the different temperature-dependent length changes of feed spindle and reference rod.

  • Patent number: 7522281
Abstract: In temperature-controlled printing plate exposers, it is possible for condensation of dampening solution or moisture to occur in a region of printing plates or laser apparatus. In this way, imaging of printing plates can be impaired and/or the laser apparatus can suffer damage resulting from corrosion. An apparatus detects the quantity of dampening solution on a measuring spot in an exposer for printing forms. The intention is for the ingress of condensation within a printing plate exposer to be detected more accurately. A measuring beam having a first intensity is reflected from the measuring spot and a measured signal is generated at a photoelectric conductor. Following evaporation of the dampening layer on the measuring spot, a reference signal is generated at a photoelectric converter by reflected radiation from the measuring spot. By comparing a measured signal and a reference signal, the dampening solution or moisture can be detected.

  • Publication number: 20070025402
Abstract: An apparatus and a method control the temperature of a laser module having laser diodes in an external drum printing plate exposer. In the external drum printing plate exposer, there is not sufficient space to permit cooling of the laser modules by Peltier elements, because of the construction. Cooling of the laser modules with Peltier elements is to be made possible, since the latter are able to control the temperature of the laser modules without vibration. The object is achieved by heat from the laser module being led to a Peltier element via a heat conduit.

  • Publication number: 20060238602
Abstract: A laser is used for digitally imaging a printing plate. Conventional UV printing plates, as are used in mask film imaging, are generally not suited for computer-to-plate (CTP) imaging methods. Here, the imaging method and the corresponding imaging apparatus permit the use of the conventional and more beneficial UV plates in a CTP imaging method and apparatus, in that the laser used is a quasi continuous wave laser (QCW laser), which emits laser pulses of a wavelength in the UV range.

  • Patent number: 7126146
Abstract: A device and a method for detecting the edge of a recording material, in particular, a printing plate, in an exposer for recording printing originals includes an exposer having an exposure drum holding the plate, and an exposure head moved axially along the drum and focusing exposure beams onto the plate. An optical fiber is let into the drum surface and an illuminating device, moved axially along the drum, radiates light radially into the fiber. A photodetector at the fiber receives the light radiated therein. Covering the light radiated in with the plate is used to detect the plate edge. Counting cycles of a feed drive moving the illuminating device determines an axial position of the edge. Alternatively, light of a light source is radiated axially into the fiber and the light emitted radially by the fiber is received using an optical detector moved by the feed drive.

  • Patent number: 6836283
Abstract: The method is for setting the line width of recorded image lines of a focused image beam in an exposer. The exposure point has a diameter and an area with a non-uniformly distributed power density. The recording material has a first exposure threshold and is exposed with an energy density near a second exposure threshold that is substantially higher than the first exposure threshold. The recording material can be a photopolymer printing plate. The line width of the recorded image lines is determined from the distribution of the power density over the area of the exposure point by integrating the time variation of the power density resulting from the exposure speed of the laser beam. The line width is set, by changing the diameter of the exposure point and/or by the laser power, such that the line width is substantially equal to the line spacing.

  • Patent number: 6822669
Abstract: A method and a multibeam scanning device for ablation of a surface on a rotating drum by laser engraving with a multi-spot array includes simultaneously emitting laser beams from fiber exits disposed beside one another, dividing up each of the beams, after emerging from the exit in an AOM array having a number of AOMs corresponding to the number of exits, into two or more partial beams modulated independently of one another, imaging the exits with an optical system on the surface, and moving the exits, the AOM array, and the optical system together in a drum axial direction while the surface is scanned by the multi-spot array in a drum circumferential direction to make possible, without increasing the number of fiber lasers, an increase in the number of scanning points of the multi-spot array and a reduction of the space required by the scanning device.

  • Patent number: 6734891
Abstract: A laser diode in a recorder is thermally stabilized. The laser diode is used to produce a light beam, which is modulated by superimposing a basic current and a modulation current derived from an image signal, and exposes a recording material point by point and line by line. Between the exposure periods, wherein in each case one line is exposed, there are return periods, wherein the light beam is guided to the start of the next line, and wherein the laser diode is modulated for the purpose of thermal stabilization. In the return period, the laser diode is modulated with the basic current during a stabilization period, the sum of the modulation times during the exposure period and during the stabilization period being constant. In addition, during the return period, the laser diode can be modulated with a modulation current, which is derived from the inverted image signal from the preceding or the following line.
