Patent number: 8894808Abstract: The method and the apparatus are used for preparing fold lines on laminated materials on the basis of cardboard. At least one region intended for providing the fold line is subjected to heat such that an at least partial local reduction of shear fracture stresses of the material is produced in said region. The application of heat is done using a heating device, which is disposed adjacent to a guide device for the laminate. The local reduction of the shear fracture stresses supports local delamination, which supports the formation of a folding joint.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2009Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignee: SIG Technology AGInventors: Werner Seiche, Toma Schneider, Jörg Berger

Publication number: 20100193391Abstract: The invention relates to a composite card/plastics package comprising a package main body (8) which is provided with a longitudinal seam (6) and having a folded and welded package floor (18) which is provided at one end (16) of the package main body (8), and to a method and apparatus for producing it, in the case of which package the object of specifying a composite card/plastics package which is also suitable for non-liquid products and can moreover be stacked satisfactorily is achieved by arranging at the top end (11) of the package main body (8) a ledge (10) which extends round it and fastening a lid (14/L) to the ledge (10) in such a way that the lid (14/L) is able to be pulled off.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2007Publication date: August 5, 2010Applicant: SIG TECHNOLOGY AGInventors: Matthias Dammers, Werner Vierboom, Birgit Birninger, Jorg Berger, Achim Konze

Publication number: 20070271873Abstract: A filling machine and a method for filling foodstuffs, particularly beverages, in composite packages open on top and for sealing the packages, using a package transport device, a sterilization unit, a drying unit, a filling unit, and a sealing unit, are shown and described. In order to have more time available—at the same output—for the individual processes (sterilization, filling, and sealing processes), and in order to prevent undesired foaming, multiple aggregates, made of a sterilization unit, drying unit, and filling unit, which are assembled into processing lines, are positioned fixed on a rotating rotary machine (1) and the transport direction of the composite packages (P) runs radially around the axis of rotation (R) on the rotary machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 24, 2003Publication date: November 29, 2007Inventors: Klaus Baltes, Jorg Berger

Publication number: 20070000206Abstract: A device for continuously filling and closing composite cardboard/plastic packagings opened on one side comprises a filling area for filling the open packagings and a closing area for closing the open end of the packagings. The individual areas are configured as peripheral functional wheels having recesses arranged on the outside, including a filling wheel and a closing wheel. The individual packagings are arranged in cell cages, which are delivered one after the other to the individual wheels. The cell cages are held in a non-positive fitting manner in the recesses of the wheels by magnets. The invention also relates to a cell cage for transporting said packagings in the device. In order to ensure a gentle transfer of the cell cages by the transfer wheels, transfer wheels having recesses on the outside are provided between the individual wheels for transferring the cell cages and the other wheels.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2004Publication date: January 4, 2007Inventors: Jorg Berger, Klaus Baltes, Werner Seiche, Rolf Raff

Publication number: 20050224528Abstract: A reclosable pouring element for opening and reclosing packages, especially rectangular multi-layer composite packages, with a base body having a circumferential flange and a lid joined flexibly thereto, as well as a method for its manufacture and a package provided with such a pouring element are presented and described. In order to retain the good barrier properties of a package provided with a pouring element even with a low overall height of the pouring element before the package is opened for the first time, it is provided that in the region of its pouring opening the base body has a plate whose contour substantially corresponds to the contour of the pouring opening. The lid is connected securely to the plate so that the lid at the same time serves as an opening element.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2002Publication date: October 13, 2005Inventors: Jorg Berger, Matthias Dammers, Heinz Jansen, Franz-Willi Spelten

Patent number: 6357202Abstract: A device capable of transporting package sleeves in an upright position, from any of several filling lines to one or more filling machines, wherein said several filling lines are aligned parallel to each other. The device utilizes a manipulator capable of linear travel in a direction perpendicular to the plane of alignment of the filling lines, a swiveling unit for moving the package sleeves in a direction transverse to the direction of travel of the manipulator unit, and a gripper unit for gripping the package sleeves. The gripper unit is capable of supplying horizontal force to the package sleeves to enable their transport in an upright position. The gripper unit also has means to clamp to the loading magazine of the filling machine and to cause the horizontal transfer of the package sleeves thereto. By use of the present device, semi-automatic or automatic loading of package sleeves to one or more filling machines is possible.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1999Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: SIG Combibloc GmbHInventors: Jens Bauer, Jorg Berger, Thomas Bohme, Franz-Willi Spelten

Patent number: 5829633Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the metering of a predeterminable quantity of a liquid, more particularly H.sub.2 O.sub.2, having a liquid inlet (10E), at least one metering chamber (6) and a liquid outlet (10A), in that the quantity of the liquid delivered by the apparatus always has not only an identical volume, but also identical properties. Thus more particularly in the case of gassing-out liquids, such as H.sub.2 O.sub.2, for example, it is possible to reliably ensure that a continues metering of a bubble-free liquid is rendered possible, so as not to change the concentration.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1996Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: PKL Verpackungssysteme GmbHInventors: Rudiger Emmerich, Jorg Berger

Patent number: 5105861Abstract: The invention relates to a filling valve on a filling and closing machine with a filling container 1 for free-flowing products, in particular foodstuffs with lumpy ingredients. In order to prevent subsequent dripping or the formation of threads during the portioned drawing off of the free-flowing products, the filling valve has, in a mouthpiece, an axially movable valve slide 9 which, in the closed portion, can be set in vibration in the axial direction. The stroke of the vibration is dimensioned in such a manner that the closing function of the valve tappet 9 is maintained.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: PKL Verpackungssysteme GmbHInventors: Jorg Berger, Franz-Willi Spelten, Rudiger Emmerich, Hans Zaiss
