  • Patent number: 8589473
Abstract: A technique is described for handling initiation requests directed to a contact host from a plurality of clients that enables the handling of large number of requests and provides design stage flexibility. A contact host receives the requests from the clients. Thereafter, an acknowledgment is sent to each requesting client so that direct data transfer may commence between the client and server bypassing the contact host. This acknowledgment may be generated and sent by either the contact host or by the associated server In some variations, each request is authenticated prior to the association of each request.

  • Patent number: 8446835
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a termination node for bundling multiple messages into a packet having a predetermined maximum size. The total size of messages received from an upper layer is checked if it is large enough to fill the maximum-sized packet. If not, the receipt of further messages is waited for a bundling delay time and if the bundling delay time has expired the messages received during said delay time are bundled into the packet. In order to ensure primarily a maximal bundling efficiency and secondarily a lowest possible delay time for the received messages before they are bundled the bundling delay time is calculated in response to an average arrival rate and an average size of the previously received messages such that the bundling delay time corresponds to an average time to fill the packet of the predetermined maximum size.

  • Patent number: 7796579
Abstract: A technique is provided for relaying data packets by an intermediate network node, the data packets being transported via a protocol, such as SCTP, in which an association containing one or more streams transporting sequenced data packets is established between two network components. The technique receives, by a transport layer, packets with individual sequence Numbers from a plurality of inbound streams. These packets are forwarded by the transport layer to a user layer without sorting. Thereafter, the user layer selects an outbound stream for each of the packets, and the packets, each of which having a sequence number that preserves the packet order determined by its original sequence number, are sent to the transport layer for transmission via the selected outbound streams.

Abstract: A technique is provided for relaying data packets by an intermediate network node (505-520), the data packets being transported via a protocol, such as SCTP, in which an association containing one or more streams transporting sequenced data packets is established between two network components. The technique receives, by a transport layer, packets with individual sequence numbers from a plurality of inbound streams (310). These packets are forwarded by the transport layer to a user layer without sorting (320). Thereafter, the user layer selects an outbound stream for each of the packets (330), and the packets, each of which having a sequence number that preserves the packet order determined by its original sequence number, are sent to the transport layer for transmission via the selected outbound streams.

  • Publication number: 20010026538
Abstract: A communication system supports multicall capabilities. Described herein are methods and techniques for exchanging the multicall capabilities of different entities, e.g., RNCs, MSCs, and terminals, such that the handling of call requests is efficient and backwardly compatible. Multicall capabilities of different entities is forwarded to a limit calculation device. The limit calculation device determines a bearer limit for a set of entities, which limit it transmitted back to at least some of the entities which forwarded their capability information. The bearer limit is used to selectively setup subsequent calls.
