    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing .alpha.,.omega.-C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 -alkenols by catalytic monodehydration of .alpha.,.omega.-alkanediols over a catalyst system comprising the combination of aluminum phosphate and barium phosphate. The gas-phase dehydration which occurs over this catalyst at temperatures of from 300 to 500.degree. C. advantageously combines selectivity with a high space-time yield while simultaneously enabling a high throughput over the catalyst.
