  • Patent number: 7928329
Abstract: A tap changer is filled with an insulating liquid as well as devices for absorbing variations in the volume of the insulating liquid due to thermal conditions. A gas cushion is provided which is integrated into the tap changer vessel and is formed by members that absorb the variations in the volume of the insulating liquid by changing the shape thereof. Furthermore, a gas cushion envelope is provided which prevents the gas of the gas cushion to be mixed with the gases generated by the thermal decomposition of the insulating liquid.

Date of Patent: April 19, 2011
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 7902951
Abstract: An electric apparatus, preferably a transformer, is hermetically sealed and filled with a dielectric liquid. Devices for recording heat-related volume variations of the dielectric liquid are contained in the apparatus. Volume variations are compensated with the aid of a gas cushion, which is thermally uncoupled from the dielectric liquid. The largest part of the gas cushion is arranged in a container separated from the dielectric liquid expansion tank. All the components of volume compensating devices are constructed in such a way that the operation of used monitoring devices, in particular, also the protection against Buchholz relays waves is maintained. The invention makes it possible to hermetically seal the transformer, thereby substantially reducing the aging of the dielectric liquid and the cellulose-based insulating material of the apparatus. Furthermore, the inventive device makes it possible to avoid the use of air-dehumidifiers and respective conduits.

  • Patent number: 7884691
Abstract: An electrical component with winding conductors, particularly a transformer, includes a cooling circuit with a heat exchanging unit. Cooling elements of the heat exchanging unit can be flowed around by a first liquid, particularly seawater, thus enabling an effective exchange of the heat resulting during the operation of the electrical component. The novel electrical component is configured particularly for offshore uses wherein the electrical component is placed at different levels of a platform and thus requires only a small amount of space.

  • Patent number: 7847189
Abstract: An electric component, in particular an electric switch placed in a liquid-filled housing of an electrical installation, in particular a transformer, is filled with an insulating and cooling medium. The use of a compensating element, for example in the form of a bellow, makes it possible to transmit volume variations produced in the electric component directly to the surrounding liquid contained in the housing.

  • Patent number: 7443273
Abstract: The system utilizes the flow of a medium for cooling an installation, especially a transformer. The fact is utilized that the flow of the medium, e.g. wind, automatically increases with increasing load of the transformer. The novel transformer is formed so that its outer shape and the cooling elements are impinged upon by the natural air flow to a maximum degree. For this purpose, the cooling elements across their length are adapted to have a large cross-sectional area for the flowing medium. The depth of the cooling elements is chosen such that the flow resistance is not too high and so as to achieve a turbulent flow of the cooling air. Distance and arrangement of the cooling elements are chosen such that the transformer tank itself is reached by the flowing medium and serves for cooling.

  • Publication number: 20080196920
Abstract: A stepping switch S has a housing filled with a dielectric liquid and devices for compensating for thermally related volume variations of the liquid. A bellows/compensator switch K is used to take up the volume variation of the dielectric liquid. The compensation device forms a compact structural component devoid of an additional conduit and mounted directly on the switch. The inventive expansion tank configuration makes it possible to integrate pressure-relieving devices and to place the monitoring units of the stepping switch in a space-saving manner.
