Publication number: 20080028593Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a cohesive connection between a tube and a built-in housing, in particular for fixing a measuring tube in the housing of a flowmeter, according to the preamble of patent claims 1 and 4. In order to ensure a reliable connection between the components in this case so that a reliable measurement using the Coriolis mass flowmeter is possible, the invention proposes that ring or tube sections are first of all applied to the measuring tube at least one of said connection locations and are connected to the measuring tube by means of a hard solder connection and, in the region of the ring or tube sections which have been soldered on, the latter are then welded to the housing or housing flanges.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2007Publication date: February 7, 2008Applicant: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Rene Friedrichs, Frank Kassubek, Kuno Hug, Jorg Gebhardt, Wolfgang Waldi, Reinhard Steinberg, Lothar Deppe, Steffen Keller, Gunter Petri

Publication number: 20080028589Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing a connection between a measuring tube and at least one flange, e.g., in the case of a Coriolis mass flowmeter. In order to ensure reliable connection of the components in this case, the measuring tube can be inserted at one end over a portion through a flange bore, such that it projects out of the bore on the other side, and that the projecting end be flared out over the sealing face of the flange.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 1, 2007Publication date: February 7, 2008Applicant: ABB PATENT GMBHInventors: Reinhard Steinberg, Lothar Deppe, Wolfgang Waldi, Frank Kassubek, Steffen Keller, Jorg Gebhardt, Rene Friedrichs, Robert Huber

Patent number: 7228749Abstract: A coriolis mass flow pick-up is disclosed, which can be inserted into a pipeline and has a fluid to be measured flowing through it during operation. The pick-up includes a single measuring pipe, which has an inlet end and an outlet end, an exciter arrangement, which causes the measuring pipe to carry out at least first bending oscillations, and at least two sensors for sensing movement of the measuring pipe. At least two elongate connection parts, which extend freely essentially parallel to the measuring pipe and whose central axes are displaced from the axis of the measuring pipe, are connected on the input side and the output side to the measuring pipe. The connection parts carry out second bending oscillations in the event of an oscillating measuring pipe, with the result that, by the second bending oscillations of the connection parts being superimposed by the oscillations of the measuring pipe, bending forces and torsional moments at the inlet and outlet ends of the measuring pipe are compensated.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2006Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Frank Kassubek, Jörg Gebhardt, René Friedrichs, Wolfgang Waldi, Steffen Keller, Kuno Hug

Patent number: 7216550Abstract: A device and a method for operating a Coriolis mass flowmeter with at least one measuring pipe, wherein at least two operative assemblies, which can respectively be operated as an exciter (actuator) and/or as a measuring signal pickup (sensor), are attached to the measuring pipe. The operative assemblies are formed as plunger-type armature sensors with a magnetic core. Each operative assembly is operated either as a sensor or as an actuator or simultaneously as an actuator and as a sensor. Each operative assembly is switched over between the operating mode as a sensor and as an actuator by a switch assigned to it.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2004Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Ralf Lesjak, Rene Friedrichs, Jorg Gebhardt, Steffen Keller, Frank Kassubek

Patent number: 7213470Abstract: Coriolis mass flowmeter with a measuring pipe (2) vibrating in coupled flexural and torsional modes, characterized in that an attachment (20) which is formed rotationally symmetrically with respect to an axis of rotational symmetry and can be made to undergo torsional oscillations of the same frequency, but opposite phase, in relation to the torsional oscillating modes of the measuring pipe (2) is mechanically connected to the measuring pipe (2) and the axis of rotational symmetry of the attachment runs parallel to the straight line (8) (central axis) defined by the center points (4a, 6a) of the cross-sectional areas (4, 6) of the inlet and outlet of the measured section or coincides with this line.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2004Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Jorg Gebhardt, Frank Kassubek, Rene Friedrichs, Wolfgang Waldi, Steffen Keller, Jorg Herwig, Lothar Deppe, Kuno Hug, Armin Gasch

Patent number: 7171860Abstract: A description is given of a Coriolis mass flowmeter, with a measuring pipe oscillating in coupled flexural and torsional modes. Mechanically connected to the measuring pipe is an attachment which is formed rotationally symmetrically with respect to an axis of rotational symmetry and can be induced to undergo the torsional oscillations of the measuring pipe. The attachment is a multipart body comprising hollow profile rails and/or beams with a closed hollow cross section. The axis of rotational symmetry of the attachment runs parallel to the straight line (8) (central axis) defined by the centre points (4a, 6a) of the cross-sectional areas (4, 6) of the inlet and outlet of the measured section, or coincide with this line.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2004Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Jorg Gebhardt, Frank Kassubek, Rene Friedrichs, Wolfgang Waldi, Kuno Hug
