  • Patent number: 4297400
Abstract: A process for imparting to textile materials a soft handle finish is disclosed, wherein an acid amide of the formulaCH.sub.2 .dbd.C(X)--CO--NH--R.sub.1or a reaction product from acrylic or methacrylic acid, or the lower alkyl esters of these acids, and an amine of the formulaR.sub.1 --NH.sub.2is used as a soft-handle agent. R.sub.1 is alkyl or alkenyl having 14 to 22 carbon atoms, and X is hydrogen or methyl. There is preferably produced from the acid amide and commercial emulsifiers and wetting agents, in a novel composition, a concentrated high-pressure emulsion, which is diluted to give an aqueous preparation that is applied to the textile materials.

    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
    Inventors: Jorg Kern, Christian Guth
  • Patent number: 3993852
Abstract: New phosphorus compounds are provided which correspond to the formula ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each denote alkyl with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, X denotes alkylene with 1 to 4 carbon atoms and A denotes phenyl substituted by hydroxyl, alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy carbonyl with 2 to 5 carbon atoms, phenyl or halogen and n is 1 or 2. These compounds are useful as flameproofing agents for organic fiber material, especially for polyamide, polyacrylonitrile or linear polyester fibers, when applied according to the dry thermal transfer process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 1974
Date of Patent: November 23, 1976
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy AG
Inventors: Fritz Mayer, Jorg Kern, Hermann Nachbur
  • Patent number: 3992560
Abstract: A process for flameproofing organic fiber material by the dry thermal transfer process is provided. In this process, a preparation is applied to an inert carrier which is then brought into contact with the fiber materials especially polyamide, polyacrylonitrile or linear polyester fibers, thereafter the carrier and the material to be finished are subjected to a heat treatment at not less than 80.degree. C and the finished material is then separated from the carrier. The preparation which is applied in this process contains a halogen compound of the formulaR.sub.0 -- X -- A.sub.0wherein R.sub.0 is halogenoalkyl, X is --CO--NY--, --COO--, --OCO-- or --O--, Y is hydrogen or hydroxyalkyl, A.sub.0 is halogenoalkyl, --NH.sub.2, alkylene--COOH or --alkylene--O-halogenoalkyl, and wherein, if X is --CO--NY-- and Y is hydrogen, A.sub.0 can also be hydrogen, and if X is --O--, R.sub.0 and A.sub.0 can also be halogenoalkyl or halogenoalkenyl.
