  • Patent number: 6116788
Abstract: The plug connector can be plugged into a coupling element. The connector has a holder in which at least one optical wave guide plug is mounted so as to be axially displaceable counter to a spring force. The holder is inserted into a carrier element. Elements are provided which allow the holder to be fixed in at least two different discrete axial positions relative to the carrier element. The elements are positively engaging contours formed on the holder and the carrier element. The different discrete positions enable easy and simple adaptation of the configuration to different plug-in depths.

  • Patent number: 6097864
Abstract: One or more continuous optical wave guides are disposed on a substrate. A partial light transfer is effected by a reflective face which deflects the light out of the continuous optical wave guide and into a branching optical wave guide disposed at an angle to it, or vice versa. To that end, a protrusion is formed on the substrate, which at least partially penetrates into the jacket face of the optical wave guide and which defines the reflective face within the cross section of the optical wave guide core.

  • Patent number: 6044188
Abstract: The configuration couples light into an end of a multimode optical waveguide through a pin stub of a single mode optical waveguide. In order to enable relatively wide-band signal transmission via the multimode optical waveguide, the pin stub has a light extraction region in which its cladding is surrounded by an outer coating of a material having a higher index of refraction than the index of refraction of the cladding material.

  • Patent number: 6014476
Abstract: The electro-optical module has a substrate with a mounting surface that is free from depressions. A surface-mounted component unit is disosed on the mounting surface. The component unit contains as integral components an electro-optical component and a lens which are aligned directly with one another. The surface serves, furthermore, as a reference plane for assembling a receptacle for an optical fiber plug.

  • Patent number: 5997185
Abstract: Laser diodes have a driver current which is dependent on aging and temperature. Emitted optical power is detected and adjusted through the use of a monitor element. However, previous transmit modules are suitable only for semiconductor lasers which emit multi-directionally. The inventive optoelectronic transmit module includes a semiconductor laser which emits unidirectionally and a monitor element. Active areas of both components point toward a coupling device. Optical coupling elements in the form of lenses and reflective elements in the form of reflective surfaces are integrated into the coupling device. The configuration of the coupling device is selected to be such that at least part of emitted radiation is passed to the monitor element, but a remaining portion penetrates the coupling device to the coupling element and is injected into or coupled-in by the latter, for example to an optical waveguide. The transmit module is particularly suitable for Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser Diodes.

  • Patent number: 5902997
Abstract: An optoelectronic unit includes a base plate, an optoelectronic component carried by the base plate and having at least one optically active zone, and a lens body having at least one lens associated with the at least one optically active zone. The lens body has an integral spacing device resting directly against the optoelectronic component for establishing a desired clearance distance between the at least one optically active zone and the at least one lens.

  • Patent number: 5556424
Abstract: An extractor consisting essentially of a guide barrel, a clamping element and a pull wire. The bordering end faces of the guide barrel and clamping element feature each a bevel which is complementary in design to the other. The pull wire is joined to the clamping element. The clamping element is moved on the bevel in the direction of the proximal end of the extractor by application of traction force on the pull wire, thereby enlarging the greatest outside diameter of the guide barrel in the area of the bevel. The relatively long design of the bevels assures with low traction forces an anchoring of the extractor in an electrode spiral by frictional engagement.

  • Patent number: 5549615
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for extracting a pacemaker electrode whose electrode head has become embedded in the heart. An extractor including an elongated hollow shell, a wire which is located therein and which is movable relative to the shell, and an extractor head attached to the end of the wire. The extractor head includes spreadable barbs, the free ends of which can be spread out radially outwardly to hook into the wall of the lead of the embedded electrode. The extractor head is inserted into a lumen of a pacemaker electrode lead. When the wire is pulled the barbs will hook into the lumen wall. A handle is attached to the other end of the wire for exerting a pulling force on the electrode lead and the electrode when it has become firmly engaged with the umbrella head whereby the electrode will be dislodged from the heart.

  • Patent number: 5201750
Abstract: A dilation catheter for reopening blood vessels includes an electrical motor drive and is insertable through vessels leading to a constriction point and has a working head for widening the vessel constriction. Catheters rotating slowly with up to 500 rpms are known, which because of the geometry of their head crowd soft material blocking vessels towards the sides. The present dilation catheter with motor drive is distinguished by an electric, battery-powered motor with motor gear box, by a spindle supported in a front bearing package with seal and a rear bearing package with seal, a junction point for the dilation catheter is located one end of the spindle, force is transmitted from the motor to the spindle, and a metal housing holding the spindle, motor and battery is shaped for gripping, holding and handling by a half-closed hand of a surgeon between the row of fingers and the thumb. The housing is kept gas-tight up to 130.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5060649
Abstract: An adapter arrangement for heart pacemakers includes an adapter member of an elastic, insulating material and a clamping bushing of a conductive material. The clamping bushing is surrounded by the adapter member and defines a longitudinal bore. The adapter member further defines a threaded bore which extends transversely of the longitudinal bore of the clamping bushing. A plug lead provided with a pacemaker plug is connected to the adapter member. A clamping screw can be screwed into the threaded bore. A stripping device includes a stripping holder with an lead guide shaft which is insertable in the adapter member. A stripping ring is slidingly mounted on the lead guide shaft.
