  • Patent number: 4200881
Abstract: Color encoding format for a color picture information record, and recording apparatus therefor, are disclosed for recording of discs for use with both (1) disc players designed to provide PAL-type outputs for driving PAL-type color television receivers, and (2) disc players designed to provide SECAM-type outputs for driving SECAM-type color television receivers. In players, up-conversion of recovered composite signal precedes comb filtering to separate luminance and chrominance components. Decoding of up-converted chrominance component, to obtain baseband color-difference signal information is followed by remodulation of a carrier pursuant to a desired output format. Comb filter arrangements of U.S. Pat. No. 3,969,757 are used when up-conversion shifts color subcarrier to a frequency in vicinity of PAL subcarrier frequency, but bearing odd integral multiple relationship to half the line frequency.

  • Patent number: 4052626
Abstract: A biasing circuit biases the second of two input terminals of a differential amplifier at a first reference level. A sawtooth voltage of a first frequency is coupled to the first input terminal. A bilevel voltage generated at an output terminal of the differential amplifier shifts levels when the sawtooth voltage equals the first reference voltage level. A second biasing circuit coupled to the first input terminal biases the first input terminal at a second reference voltage level differing from the first reference level by an offset voltage. The second reference level is selected to equalize the duration of each of the bilevel voltages. Output signals are produced when the bilevel voltage shifts levels, thereby producing the output signals at twice the first frequency.

  • Patent number: 4001876
Abstract: A system is provided for color correction of recorded television signals. The chroma signal is decoded to baseband using a reference subcarrier which has the same timing errors as the chroma signal. The stabilized baseband signal is remodulated onto a stable subcarrier and added back to luminance. The phase modulated subcarrier used for decoding is obtained from a phase modulator fed by reference subcarrier and modulated by the recorded signal burst phase error voltage. Provisions are made for processing signals recorded in NTSC or PAL format by converting the PAL alternate line burst switching to an unswitched NTSC format.
