  • Patent number: 6290790
Abstract: A method for reducing the electrical resistance caused by a corrosion oxide coating at the current-carrying transition of a chromium steel component includes annealing the chromium steel component a temperature of at least 950° C. and removing any oxide coating that develops during said annealing before the component carries current.

Date of Patent: September 18, 2001
Assignee: MTU Motoren- und Turbinen-Union Friedrichshafen GmbH
    Inventors: Jörg Wind, Felix Nitschke
  • Patent number: 5942099
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing NO.sub.x from the exhaust of internal combustion engines. The apparatus has a porous absorbent body saturated with a liquid alkaline electrolyte for absorption of NO.sub.x as nitrate and nitrite, in which body electrodes are distributed pairwise for electrochemical decomposition of the nitrate and nitrite to form nitrogen. The method uses the apparatus of the invention to decompose nitrates and nitrites into diatomic nitrogen.

    Assignee: Daimler-Benz AG
    Inventors: Felix Nitschke, Jorg Wind
  • Patent number: 5698337
Abstract: A manufacturing method for a separator plate for a molten carbonate fuel cell and separator plate made by the method. The separator plate comprises Ni-clad stainless steel. Aluminum is brought onto the wet seal area of the separator plate by high-velocity oxygen flame spraying. In addition, an intermetallic phase of the aluminum and the base metal is produced. The base metal can be both stainless steel or nickel.
