Patent number: 11840177Abstract: A system for securing a user device to a body includes a magnet and an attraction plate. One of the magnet or the attraction plate is mechanically coupled to the body, and the other of the magnet or the attraction plate is mechanically coupled to the user device. The magnet is selectively activated to hold the attraction plate and, thereby, secure the user device to the body.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2020Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Sawyer I. Cohen, Jack J. Wanderman, Romain A. Teil, Mikael P. Sedlacek, Jorge C. Fialho, Kirill Kalinichev, Robert D. Silfvast, Justin D. Crosby

Patent number: 11554699Abstract: A cushion having a fibrous foam architecture. The cushion has a trim cover and a number of fibrous layers attached to the trim cover. One or more structural properties of a fibrous layer can be controlled to differ from that of other layers.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2019Date of Patent: January 17, 2023Assignees: Tesla, Inc., PIANA NONWOVENS. LLCInventors: Forrest Wen Liau, Stefan Kuzmanovski, Jorge C. Fialho, Andrea Piana, Eric McCann, Mehran Jafari, Andy Hollis, Helias Andriessen

Patent number: 11104291Abstract: Occupant safety systems suitable for use in both traditional and opposed seating systems include various combinations of passive safety components: sensors that provides an output signal indicative of an imminent collision, seats selectively moveable relative to seat support structures in response to the output signal, inflatable restraints deployable from lap portions of a tensioned restraint based on the output signal, airbags deployable from a roof of a vehicle based on the output signal, cabin dividers deployable from a side of a cabin of the vehicle or the roof of the vehicle based on the output signal, and curtain airbags deployable between an occupant and the side of the cabin of the vehicle based on the output signal.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2020Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel J. Dennis, Arturo Llamazares Domper, Rikard Fredriksson, Alexander M. Zoellner, Lukas Satas, Jorge C. Fialho, John J. Baker, Jesse T. Buehler, Ronald A. Bowers

Publication number: 20210155228Abstract: A system for dynamically managing individual suspension settings for a vehicle based on a determined suspension mode is provided. Based on the user input and obtained sensor input, the system can then determine a suspension mode for a plurality of individually controllable components by specifying values or commands for each controllable component. A first mode may correspond to a lowering of the plurality of controllable. A second mode may correspond to lowering two controllable components corresponding to the rear wheels of the vehicle and raising two controllable components corresponding to front wheels of the vehicle. A third mode may correspond to a lowering of the plurality of controllable components to effectively drop the height of the vehicle to a threshold point. The system may further implement various validation processes that can validate the determined suspension mode and make further adjustment to individual controllable portions based on load or ground measurements.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2020Publication date: May 27, 2021Inventors: Joel Van Rooyen, Brian Doorlag, Jorge C. Fialho, Paul Venhovens

Patent number: 10919482Abstract: Occupant safety systems suitable for use in both traditional and opposed seating systems include various combinations of passive safety components: sensors that provide an output signal indicative of an imminent collision, inflatable restraints that deploy from opposing interior surfaces of a passenger compartment of a vehicle based on the output signal, and inflators disposed within door cavities that selectively inflate an airbag or vent the inflator to an exterior of a vehicle based on the output signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2020Date of Patent: February 16, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Alexander M. Zoellner, Jorge C. Fialho, Nathaniel J. Dennis, Rikard Fredriksson
