  • Patent number: 9019080
Abstract: A sensor of a communication device detects whether a card associated with an account is present within a range. Responsive to the communication device detecting the card is outside the range of the sensor longer than a user specified time limit, the communication device sends a first communication to an account provider system via a network for the card to automatically place an account associated with the card on hold, wherein the account provider system blocks transactions to the account when the account is placed on hold. Responsive to the communication device detecting the card return within the range of the sensor, the communication device sends a second communication to the account provider system via the network to automatically reactivate the account associated with the card, wherein the account provider system allows transactions to the account when the account is reactivated.

Date of Patent: April 28, 2015
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation

  • Patent number: 7788552
Abstract: A multi-chip module (MCM) assembly has two modules interconnected by respective interposers and a printed circuit board, and diagnostic logic within the modules uses the principal of signal reflection to located any open fault in the circuit path across the interposers. A first test signal is sent from module to the other and a determination is made as to whether any reflected signal represents an open fault of the circuit path at either of the interposers. If a reflected signal is received during a predetermined time, the diagnostic logic concludes that a single open fault exists only at the far interposer. If no reflected signal is received then the diagnostic logic concludes that there is at least one open fault at the near interposer, and the second module runs a similar test to check to see if both interposers have failures.

  • Patent number: 7661006
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for managing symmetric multiprocessor interconnects. The process identifies functional communication connections between each processor in a plurality of processors on a multiprocessor to form identified functional communication connections. The process maps every functional communication connection between any two processors in the plurality of processors, based on the identified functional communication connections, to form an interconnect matrix. The process creates a path map using the interconnect matrix. The path map comprises a sequence of communication connections between the plurality of processors. The process initializes the plurality of processors using the path map.
