  • Patent number: 8953817
Abstract: A system and method of producing a directional output signal is described including the steps of: detecting sounds at the left and rights sides of a person's head to produce left and right signals; determining the similarity of the signals; modifying the signals based on their similarity; and combining the modified left and right signals to produce an output signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 2009
Date of Patent: February 10, 2015
    Assignee: Hear IP Pty Ltd.
Inventors: Jorge Patricio Mejia, Harvey Albert Dillon
  • Patent number: 8755547
Abstract: A method of enhancing the intelligibility of sounds including the steps of: detecting primary sounds emanating from a first direction and producing a primary signal; detecting secondary sounds emanating from the left and right of the first direction and producing secondary signals; delaying the primary signal with respect to the secondary signals; and presenting combinations of the signals to the left and right sides of the auditory system of a listener.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2007
Date of Patent: June 17, 2014
    Assignee: Hear IP Pty Ltd.
Inventors: Jorge Patricio Mejia, Simon Carlille, Harvey Albert Dillon
  • Patent number: 8116489
Abstract: A system and method that reduces the perceptual effect resulting from ear occlusion include an electro-acoustic feedback network that produces phase canceling sounds in the ear, where a receiver and a microphone are located. A control mechanism controls the response of the feedback network to minimize distortion in the ear while maintaining a desired frequency response for external signals. Devices producing the external signal include hearing aids, personal sound devices, in ear monitors, communications headsets and hearing protectors. The integration of the above with these devices improves a user's perception of their own voice.
