  • Publication number: 20080013449
Abstract: Data communication in network traffic is modeled in real time and is analyzed using a 2-state Markov modified Poissen process (MMPP). The traffic inter-arrival times for bursty and idle states define a transition window [?1max, ?2min] represented by the boundary values ?1max max for the inter-arrival time for bursty traffic, and ?2min for the inter-arrival time for idle traffic. Changes in the values of ?1max and ?2min are tracked over time, and the size of the transition window is enlarged or decreased based upon relative changes in these values. If the inter-rival times for the bursty state and the idle state become approximately equal, the model defaults to a single state model. The modeling is applicable to the synchronization of polling and blocking in a low-latency network system. This permits the adoptive selection of poll or block to maximize CPU utilization and interrupt latency.

  • Publication number: 20070162631
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address the deficiencies of the art in respect to application performance and provide a novel and non-obvious data processing method, system and computer program product for selecting between separate hardware implemented and software implemented iSCSI paths to process an input/output request in a data communication environment. In one embodiment, a method for selecting between separate hardware implemented and software implemented iSCSI paths to process an input/output request can include transmitting a stream of requests to access at least one logical block address in at least one storage device in an IP storage system is provided. The utilization of a first processor in a host configured to transmit the stream of requests, where the host provides a first iSCSI implementation can be monitored along with the utilization of a second processor in an adapter coupled to the storage device, where the adapter provides a second iSCSI implementation.

  • Publication number: 20060132109
Abstract: An audio noise mitigation approach. For one aspect, a first voltage associated with a first power management state is provided. A signal responsive to an indication associated with at least a first type of periodic exit event is received and responsive to the signal, a transition to a second voltage associated with a second state is initiated, a rate of the transition to the second voltage being slower than a similar voltage transition initiated in response to a non-periodic exit event.

  • Publication number: 20060047986
Abstract: An integrated circuit device, such as a processor initiates a transition to a first power management state. The device then receives a request to exit the first power management state and, in response exits the first power management state at the highest of a reference operating voltage, such as a minimum operating voltage, and a current voltage. For one aspect, an analog to digital converter may be used to determine the current voltage level. Further, for one aspect the first power management state may be a deeper sleep (C4) state, and the processor may quickly exit to a C2 state in response to a bus event such as a bus snoop.

  • Patent number: 6666676
Abstract: A programmable burner for gas stoves, which is constituted by a gas burner and a safety valve that includes a thermocouple, which is located in coincidence with an external edge of the burner. The safety valve is maintained open when the thermocouple is detecting the presence of a flame on the gas burner and is closed when the burner has been turned off. An electrode is placed near of the external periphery of the burner for igniting. A spark generation module is connected with the electrode for generating the sparks for igniting the burner. A spark interrupter is connected to the spark generation module, the spark interrupter being located over a burner knob that is connected to the safety valve, for activating or deactivating the spark generation of the spark generation module. Finally a programmable device is connected with the thermocouple and the security valve, for programming the ignition time of the burner in accordance with a preestablished operation time by user.
