  • Publication number: 20200405964
Abstract: A syringe system, including a plunger, a microcontroller, a battery, and a coil. The syringe barrel having a proximal end, a distal end, and a cylindrical sidewall defining a longitudinal axis, the cylindrical sidewall extending longitudinally between the proximal and distal ends, the sidewall having an exterior surface and defining an internal volume, the plunger being positioned between the proximal and distal ends of the syringe barrel and being movable within the internal volume with respect to the syringe barrel in the longitudinal direction. The syringe barrel further includes a label disposed on the sidewall and having at least two conductive strips extending in a non-parallel direction with respect to the longitudinal axis and having unique lengths. The microcontroller is configured to determine a position of the plunger with respect to the syringe barrel by measuring a current induced in the coil by the at least two conductive strips.

  • Publication number: 20200164151
Abstract: An injection assembly includes a housing with a barrel positioned within the housing. The barrel includes an axis extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof and a chamber for storing medicine. An elongate anti-rotation shaft is rotationally fixed to the housing and has a non-circular cross-section. The injection assembly includes an inner screw having an inner screw opening to complementarily receive the anti-rotation shaft to prevent rotation of the inner screw with respect to the anti-rotation shaft but allow respective linear translation along the axis. An outer screw is positioned within, and rotatable with respect to, the housing and has an outer screw opening to threadably receive the inner screw, wherein rotation of the outer screw translates the inner screw along the axis and along the anti-rotation shaft. A plunger is coupled to the distal end of the inner screw and is moveable with respect to the chamber to push the medicine out of the chamber when the outer screw is rotated.

  • Publication number: 20200139053
Abstract: A syringe includes a plunger having multiple sections of differing diameters or materials, and a barrel with a cavity into which the plunger is inserted. The barrel includes a first probe and a second probe opposite to one another such that an interior volume of the barrel is radially between the first and second probes. A microcontroller is configured to measure a capacitance between the first and second probes, with the measured capacitance having a first capacitance value when the first section of the plunger shaft is between the first and second probes and a second capacitance value different from the first capacitance value when a second section of the plunger shaft is between the first and second probes. The microcontroller is configured to determine that an injection has been completed when the second capacitance value is measured.

  • Publication number: 20190060578
Abstract: A telescopic screw assembly for an injector includes an inner screw, an outer screw and a middle screw. The middle and outer screws are in a first threaded engagement, and the inner and middle screws are in a second threaded engagement. The inner screw is nested with the middle screw and the middle screw is nested with the outer screw in a contracted configuration of the screw assembly. Rotation of the outer screw in one direction advances the middle screw relative to the outer screw via the first threaded engagement and advances the inner screw relative to the middle screw via the second threaded engagement to telescopically extend the screw assembly into an expanded configuration. At least two of the inner, middle and outer screws are identified with a different visual indicator to enhance visual distinction between the screws, and readily visually indicate an extension progress of the screw assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060266797
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for at least locally increasing the stability and/or load carrying ability of work pieces (10), whereby first of all a first work piece (11) is produced by means of a conventional manufacturing method. The inventive method is characterized by the following steps: a) the first work piece (11) is then provided with a hole (13) in the area where stability and/or load carrying ability are to be increased; b) a second work piece (12) which consists of a stability-and/or load carrying ability-increasing material is introduced into the hole (13); c) in this state, the second work piece (12) is rubbed relative to the first work piece (11) according to the friction welding method until the welding temperature is reached which lies below the melting temperature of the two work pieces (11, 12), thereby obtaining a friction-welded connection between the first work piece (11) and the second work piece (12) and producing the work piece (10).
