  • Publication number: 20060265881
Abstract: A device is disclosed for stripping an outer material from a transmission carrier that has an end block defining a passageway therethrough for positioning the transmission carrier therein. Grip members are pivotally attached to the end block and movable between an open position and a cutting position. In one embodiment, an alignment mechanism is attached to at least one of the grip members for holding the outer material of the transmission carrier at a distal point spaced from the end block with a predetermined alignment and/or clamping force to inhibit buckling of the outer material during removal. A cutting mechanism associated with the end block proximate to the passageway is actuated by pivoting the grip members to a cutting position for removal of the outer material. Another variation includes a fracture mechanism that induces material fracture of the outer material during pivoting of the grip members.

  • Patent number: 6527478
Abstract: For installation, a cable (5, 17) or empty pipe is anchored in a canal or pipe system (1, 3) at a minimum of 2 anchoring points (2) along the longitudinal direction of the canal or pipe system. The cable (5, 17) or an empty pipe and at least one holding device (12, 21) fastened to the inner wall (16) of the canal or pipe system are installed in the area of a branch point (6) in such a way, that the cable or empty pipe are guided around the branch point by means of the holding device and due to their defined pre-tension. The installation can be done comparatively quickly and easily, and after installation the function of the branch point, for example, in the form of an inlet canal, is not diminished.

  • Patent number: 6431078
Abstract: An autonomous transport system is disclosed, formed by four main subsystems: a channel subsystem; a vehicle subsystem; a wheel guide subsystem and central control station subsystem. The system is designed for the transportation of people or goods, to be used in tall buildings and in small and large scale urban environments. It comprises unitary vehicles that may move in different directions: horizontal, steeply sloped and also vertical tracks, thanks to novel traction wheel assemblies that roll on carefully designed wheel tracks. The system's cabin maintains the horizontal level/position regardless of the changes of track direction or slanting thanks to pendulum based automatic level control and may rotate up to 180° under normal conditions and even a full 360° turn respect to the wheel assembly in space restricted positions. The cabin is mounted on a cantilever, thereby displacing its center of gravity respect of the wheel guides.

  • Patent number: 6138278
Abstract: A medical gown and drape are disclosed in which regions thereof are imprinted with performance enhancing coatings. The gown has regions in the chest and sleeve areas imprinted with a liquid repellent coating to protect the wearer from fluids. The drape preferably has an absorbent or super absorbent coating surrounding a fenestration through which an operation may occur. The drape may also have regions coated with water repellent or friction enhancing materials. The gown further has adhesive closures rather than ties.
