  • Patent number: 4643747
Abstract: A reaction gas cooler, including a refractory lined gas inlet, a first stage in the form of a tube bundle heat exchanger through which gas flows, an intermediate chamber, and a second stage in the form of a tube bundle heat exchanger through which gas flows. The second stage has a double flow design, which is effected by a central pipe which is disposed in the intermediate chamber and divides the second stage into an in-flow zone and a reverse-flow zone.

  • Patent number: 4541245
Abstract: Method and apparatus for burning fine grained material, particularly for the manufacture of cement clinker whereby the product quality is enhanced. At least a portion of the exhaust gases from the kiln at a temperature of about 1000.degree. to 1300.degree. C. are cooled by passing them through a steam generator to a temperature of about 200.degree. to 300.degree. C. At least a portion of the noxious substances such as alkali chlorides and sulfur are condensed out of the gas stream as well as possibly some mineral particles such as partially deacidified kiln dust. The materials condensed out of the gas are separated in the steam generator by means of periodic or continuous cleaning of the heating surfaces of the steam generator. The steam which is generated in the generator is conducted to at least one prime mover such as a steam turbine or a steam motor for the purpose of producing electrical or mechanical energy.

  • Patent number: 4538676
Abstract: A gas/liquid, parallel flow heat exchanger in a waste-heat tank which is constructed as a pressure tank, is charged with coolant, and is connected after a pressure gasification. The waste-heat tank includes conduit-like elements of equal length which serve as heat transfer surfaces and are installed in conduit-like components or wall units. The wall units divide the interior of the waste-heat tank into regions having upwardly and downwardly directed fluid flow. A central, coaxial, polygonal, preferably hexagonal, cylindrical displacement body is provided, with the number of surfaces of the displacement body depending upon the number of heat transfer surface elements. Also provided are wall units which project out of the wall of the container of the waste-heat tank into the interior thereof across from the corners of the polygonal displacement body. Cylindrical displacement bodies are located centrally between the corners of the polygonal displacement body on an imaginary circle.

  • Patent number: 4287944
Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling process gases which are under high pressure and temperature. The withdrawn heat is used for high pressure steam generation in accordance with the natural circulation principle. The heat exchanger comprises U tubes suspendedly inserted in a plate or tube sheet. Two chambers are provided above the plate, are separated from one another, and are intended for the coolant-steam circulation. A housing surrounds the U tube bundle and is connected to and below the chambers. The housing has at least one process gas inlet and at least one process gas outlet. One arm of each U tube is constructed as a double tube. The inner tube has the function of a gravity tube, and the remaining annular conduit, as well as the remainder of each U tube, have the function of risers.
