    Abstract: A washing arrangement for washing and dewatering of cellulose pulp is disclosed, comprising a rotatable drum having a plurality of outer compartments defined by axial compartment walls distributed along the circumference of the drum, a stationary cylindrical casing that encloses the drum, whereby an annular space is defined between the casing and the drum and longitudinal seals extending in the axial direction of the drum divide the annular space into zones for forming, washing and discharge of the pulp. The function of the longitudinal seals is optimized by units for seal adjustment having force sensors for measuring a force acting on one of the longitudinal seals in the direction from the drum, and positioners for automatically moving the longitudinal seal substantially in the radial direction of the drum according to a predetermined pattern based on the measured force.

    Abstract: Methods for achieving even transverse distribution and propagation of a flowing medium are disclosed in which the flowing medium is supplied through a conduit and is deflected during diverging propagation in at least one distribution gap The method includes deflecting the flowing medium during diverging propagation along the distribution gap in which the medium is conveyed through a passage to an outlet gap having a larger depth than the depth of the distribution gap. The medium is conveyed over an edge of the passage extending transverse to the direction of the flow, and the edge is designed to obtain a propagation along the flowing path of the diverging medium that provides a substantially even and parallel flow of the medium along the outlet gap. Apparatus for achieving this method is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Devices for screening pulp suspensions are disclosed including a cylindrical screen extending longitudinally within a housing, an inlet for feeding the pulp suspension into the interior of the cylindrical screen, an accept outlet for removing the accept portion of the pulp suspension after it has passed through the cylindrical screen, a reject outlet for removing a reject portion of the pulp suspension at the opposite end of the cylindrical screen with respect to the inlet, and a rotor concentrically positioned for rotation within the cylindrical screen such that an annular screen chamber is created between the rotor and the screen, the rotor including wings extending from its exterior such that the wings have a length circumferentially with respect to the rotor which ranges from about 2:1 to about 6:1 with respect to the distance between the rotor and the screen, and the leading edges of the wings being separated a greater distance from the rotor than the trailing edges of the wings.
