  • Publication number: 20110045518
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of diagnosing the presence of a non-specific disease or disorder in a subject, wherein a determined level of YKL-40 above a reference level indicates the presence of a non-specific disease or disorder. The subject may suffer from a variety of diseases or disorders. The reference level may be a reference level obtained from healthy individuals or it may be a previous measurement obtained from the same subject. The present invention furthermore relates to a method for classifying the severity of a non-specific disease or disorder in a subject, wherein a determined level of YKL-40 above or below one or more reference levels gives the severity of said non-specific disease or disorder. The present invention further relates to a kit and a device that may be used in the method of the present invention comprising means for measuring the level of YKL-40 in a sample; and means for comparing the measured level of YKL-40 with at least one reference level of YKL-40.

  • Publication number: 20100313690
Abstract: A piece of furniture such as a bed or a chair, with an adjustable section (2, 3) adjustable about a pivot shaft (4) embedded in a frame (1). A claw shaped arm (5) intended for engagement with a spindle nut constructed as a sliding element in a linear drive is secured to the shaft (4) for adjustment of the section. The claw shaped arm (5) is with a simple punching and bending process made from a plate material. A correct mutual position of the two legs (13a, 13b) of the arm is obtained, as possibility for a good and stable fixing of the arm (5) on the pivot shaft (4) is achieve.

  • Publication number: 20100224017
Abstract: A linear actuator device for pieces of furniture, e.g. beds, is described which include an adjustable section (2, 3) pivotally embedded in a frame (1). The section (2, 3) is raised and lowered by at least one rod (23, 24) mounted on a pivot shaft (4, 6). The actuator comprises a housing (8) with a bushing (10) receiving the pivot shaft (4, 6), and a spindle (14) driven by a low-voltage DC motor (11). The spindle (14) carries a spindle nut (12) fixed against rotation which in one direction of motion operates an arm (5, 7) mounted on the pivot shaft (4, 6) for adjusting the section within the piece of furniture. By designing the arm (5, 7) such that, when it engages the spindle nut (12), it will rest against an area (17) of the nut's end which faces farthest away from the shaft, an expedient moment curve for pivoting the section is obtained, as a large moment occurs at the beginning and the end of the section's movement just when needed.

  • Patent number: 7538284
Abstract: An electrical operating panel, in particular for height-adjustable tables equipped with actuators or lifting columns driven by an electric motor. The panel has a first part (1) intended for fixed mounting of the panel and a second part (2) with operating keys (19) for activating electrical switches. The two parts are hinged together, and the hinge is formed with a rotary shaft (10) on the no part and a bearing with a cylindrical face (13) on the other part and formed with interengaging projections (16) and depressions (15) such that the second part may assume various angular positions relative to the first part, the force between projections and depressions bearing greater than the necessary operative pressure on the operating keys, but smaller than the force necessary to manually move the second part between the various angular positions. The panel is of simple structure and easy to mount and use. The users may easily set the keyboard part in the desired angular position.

  • Publication number: 20090044340
Abstract: A linear actuator for a piece of furniture, namely a bed or chair comprising a housing (8) of plastic consisting of two parts (8a, 8b) with a joining edge (8c) in the longitudinal direction of the housing. In both ends of the housing there is a transverse through aperture (10) for receiving a pivot shaft in the piece of furniture, and with an openable cover (9) for mounting the actuator on the shafts. In connection with the apertures there is a drive comprising a reversible motor, which over a transmission drives a spindle, and where a spindle nut fixed against rotation and constructed as a sliding element is mounted on said spindle. The pivot shaft in the piece of furniture has an arm which rests loosely against the end of the spindle nut when the actuator is mounted on the piece of furniture so that the pivot shaft is rotated for raising of a section in the piece of furniture in one direction of movement of the spindle and for lowering the section under its weight in the other direction.

  • Patent number: 7189922
Abstract: An electrical component protective cover for an appliance has an upper portion and a lower panel portion. The upper portion forms a cavity within a housing having a plurality of walls, which form a perimeter around the electrical component. At least one vent in at least one sidewall of the housing vents air and enables moisture to escape from the interior of the housing. A strip of barrier material is positioned between an edge of the perimeter of the housing and the appliance, the barrier material being a narrow piece of a resilient caulk material to impede liquid or moisture from entering the interior of the housing. The protective cover attaches to the electrical component using attachment receptacles such as female tab recesses. The lower portion has an aperture intermediate the upper portion and the lower portion to provide electrical component access through the cover without removing the cover.

  • Patent number: 7066041
Abstract: A linear actuator useful for adjusting furniture includes a housing (1) with a reversible electric-motor (2) which, via a transmission (11, 13), drives a spindle (4) with a force absorbing bearing (16). On the spindle there is a nut (5) to which an actuation rod (86) is fixed surrounded by an outer tube (7). The actuator is with the actuation rod and a rear mounting mounted in the construction into which the actuator should be built-in. The motor housing is part of the supporting construction, as a console is fixed to this (10) with a fixing for the outer tube, spindle bearing and a rear mounting and is designed to absorb the forces occurring hereon. As the housing, as with previously known actuators, need not absorb and transfer forces, this can be made as a thin shell.
