  • Patent number: 7049817
Abstract: A thermostatically controlled containment cell for a sample, suitable notably for a measuring device such as a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, NMR type measuring device including the cell, and method for implementation is disclosed. Cell (8) comprises a body of a tubular sleeve (9) made of a material so selected as not to interfere with NMR measurements, (for example a non-magnetic and non electrically conducting material) ending at its opposite ends with terminal parts (14, 16), containing a sample (S), and means (19–22) for circulating within tubular sleeve (9) a controlled-temperature heat carrier for maintaining the sample at a substantially constant temperature during measurements which liquid is selected to not disturb the NMR measurements. The cell containing the sample is first heated by circulation of the heat carrier. An overpressure sufficient to prevent boiling is established in the cell.

  • Patent number: 6558625
Abstract: The present invention relates to a distribution device intended for a gaseous effluent produced by a chemical reaction, comprising at least two inlet ways and two outlet ways. This device comprises at least one closed-loop line divided into four sections by four controlled sealing elements, and each one of said four ways communicates with a single section so that the inlet ways are connected to two opposite sections and said outlet ways are connected to the other two sections.

  • Patent number: 6551832
Abstract: A method and to an equipment carry out measurements on an effluent resulting from a chemical reaction taking place in a reactor containing a catalyst. The method includes, in combination, injecting at least one feedstock into each of at least two reactors, separating the gas and liquid phases downstream from each reactor, sending the separated gas phase to be measured and analyzed while the other gas phases coming from the other separators are discharged, sending the separated liquid phase to be analyzed and measured, and automatically monitoring and controlling the chemical reaction in the reactors, the analysis and measurement cycle performed on the gas phase and the analysis and measurement cycle performed on the liquid phase.

  • Patent number: 6548305
Abstract: A method and an equipment carry out measurements on an effluent resulting from a chemical reaction taking place in a reactor containing a catalyst. The method includes, in combination, injecting at least one feedstock into at least two reactors, sending the effluent coming from one of the reactors for analysis and measuring controlling the pressure and the temperature of the effluent in the circuit contained between downstream from the reactors and upstream from the analysis device, and allowing automatic monitoring and control of the chemical reaction in the reactors and of the analysis and measurement cycle performed on the effluent produced by the reaction.

  • Patent number: 6401523
Abstract: Device for studying physical properties of a solid sample (S) in the presence of fluids, at relatively high temperature and pressure. The device comprises an elongate rigid body (1) closed at the opposite ends thereof by two covers (2, 3), a flexible sheath (9) around the sample, cooperating with two end pieces (7, 8) so as to delimit, inside the rigid body, a containment vessel, injection means for displacing fluids under pressure through the sample in its sheath, measuring means for measuring various parameters of the sample and means (P) for injecting a fluid under pressure around flexible sheath (9) so as to exert a radial pressure and possibly an axial pressure around the sample, means for heating the fluid under pressure associated with at least one of the two covers (3, 4) and means including a turbine (12) for example, for homogenizing the temperature around the sheath by circulation of the fluid heated on contact with the heating means. The body is preferably made of a composite material.

  • Patent number: 5569839
Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus and method for determining pore volume parameters of a solid sample. The apparatus comprises a high pressure cell (50), a sample holder (1) provided with an orifice (21), means (2) for creating a vacuum connected to a chamber (10a) containing the sample holder by at least one orifice (30), and a mercury supply. The apparatus also comprises a syringe pump (9) connected to the chamber and to mercury supply means for delivery of mercury under pressure, means for programming a steady supply of mercury for a fixed period of time connected to the pump, at least one pressure sensor (15) downstream of the pump which continuously reads the pressure, and means (41) for signal collection and processing connected to the pressure sensor and the means for programming a steady supply of mercury and adapted to calculate the porosimetry parameters.

  • Patent number: 5257528
Abstract: A device for studying an aging of a fluid circulated in a loop or closed circuit by imposing, for example, predetermined temperature, pressure or shear conditions on the fluid in order to determine rheologic properties of the fluid. The device includes a loading pump, a circulating pump, a filtration governor pump and an injection and draw-off pump, a flow meter, a viscosimeter for discontinuous measurings, a narrowing or reduction for causing a shearing of the fluid, a number of filters interconnected in series, a sampling cell, pressure and temperature pickups, heating jackets and heat insulation sheaths for maintaining a homogenous temperature all along the loop, and a control system which includes a programmable automaton associated with a microcomputer in order to pilot numerous operating sequences. The device is constructed so as to maintain constant conditions imposed on the fluid regardless of the type of measurements being effected.
