  • Publication number: 20230040153
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a novel improved method for continuous crystallization of highly crystalline clathrate hydrates. The novel improved method utilizes a novel hydrator capable of overcoming heat and mass transfer limitations that usually constrain crystallization rate and thus reduces process productivity. The disclosed method and hydrator are for production of crystalline clathrates in general, CO2 capture, capture of other clathrate forming compounds, CO2 storage and transportation, storage and transportation of any clathrate forming compound in a solid lattice, gas separation or water desalination or purification purposes.

  • Patent number: 11484862
Abstract: A chemical reactor/mixer, in particular for producing hydrates comprising a mixer network plate and heat exchanger plates wherein the network mixer plate comprises an array of chambers that are connected by channels where the flow of one or more fluids is mixed and divide sequentially. The network mixer plate is confined by the heat exchanger plate that have an inner chamber where a heat exchanger fluid is introduced. Said network plates and heat exchanger plates are designed to have the option to be assembled as modules of larger processing units.

  • Patent number: 8434933
Abstract: A static continuous flow mixer, with or without reaction, is provided with basic cells, which are individually provided with an individualized chamber (1). The basic cells are also provided with at least two connecting channels (2), at least two of them being oblique relatively to the resulting direction (x) of the flow in the mixer, and with at least two additional apertures (0) for connection with the exterior. The cells interconnect successively in the space, forming a network. The mixer promotes convective processes. The dimensions (Dj, li, di, ?), the geometry of the chambers (spherical or cylindrical) and of the channels (cylindrical or prismatic) may vary, as well as their quantity.

  • Patent number: 7708918
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and device RIM involving a mixing chamber (1) with opposing injectors (2, 3). The efficiency is maximized through the operation in flow regimes with very strong mixing dynamics, which is assured by means of the introduction of schemes to: detect the flow regime within the mixing chamber, through the dynamic pressure measurement upstream of the injectors (2, 3), using means (5); and/or impose a chaotic flow regime, through the pulsation of the opposed jets, using means (6). Alterations in design, comparatively to the traditional geometries, are also proposed, concerning: the mixing chamber (1), being foreseen a prismatic rectangular chamber; the injectors (2, 3), being foreseen elongated injectors; and even the scheme of injection of the materials, using a third injector (4).

  • Publication number: 20090263497
Abstract: The present invention provides a continuous process for producing calcium phosphate nanoparticles in a network mixer or static mixer reactor, fed by a calcium solution, a phosphorous solution and an alkaline solution and, optionally, one solvent or dispersing agent. The proposed process enables the micromixing control, which is essential to form nanometric structures, but it is also a determining factor in the crystals purity, crystallinity and morphology. The reactants distribution scheme at the inlet of the reactor and along the reactor, performed continuously or varying in time, is also a crucial factor to programme the pH of the reactant media along the reactor The calcium phosphate nanoparticles suspension that exits the reactor can be submitted to further aging, ultra-sounds, separation, drying, sintering and milling processes.

  • Publication number: 20090016154
Abstract: The mixer is static, of continuous flow, with or without reaction, and provided with basic cells, and is characterised in that these are individually provided with an individualised chamber (1), provided with at least two connecting channels (2), at least two of them being oblique relatively to the resulting direction (x) of the flow in the mixer, and with at least two additional apertures (0) for connection with the exterior, and in that said cells interconnect successively in the space, forming a network. It promotes convective processes. The dimensions (Dj, li, di, Ø), the geometry of the chambers (spherical or cylindrical) and of the channels (cylindrical or prismatic) may vary, as well as their quantity.
