Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for selecting a network resource, in which a “controlled-entity” device connected to an IP network (20) is also capable of accessing at least one other physical and/or virtual telecommunications network. According to the method, after a step in which a request is sent or relayed by the controlled-entity or is sent to the controlled-entity, the controlled-entity then receives a session control signal containing a resource identifier representative of the physical or virtual network that the controlled-entity may or must use in order to satisfy the request.

Abstract: A method for the transmission of a message by a server of a multimedia IP core network is disclosed. In one aspect, following the reception, by the server, of a request from a terminal to register with the core network, the registration request proposing an authentication method for the establishment of a secure tunnel between the terminal and an entity for the connection of the terminal to the core network. The transmission method may comprise identifying an access network used by the terminal for registering with the multimedia IP core network, drawing-up, according to the identified access network, a recommendation concerning the establishment or otherwise of the secure tunnel between the terminal and the connection entity for the authentication method, and inserting said recommendation into the message transmitted by the server.

Abstract: A method is provided of communication between a first user of an IP (Internet protocol) network and a second user of the IP network, the second user having a plurality of client devices connected to the IP network. A client device of the first user sends a request to the second user, and a proxy server of the second user sends the request to all the client devices of the second user. At least one of the client devices of the second user sends a response to the request from the first user, and each of the responses is intercepted by the proxy server. The proxy server sends each of the responses to the first user, without waiting for other possible responses, after having inserted at least the following information therein: an indication of the total number of client devices of the second user to whom the request was sent, and an indication of the number of responses sent thus far by one or more client devices of the second user.

Abstract: A method is disclosed of processing emergency call transfer requests by an entry server of an IMS core network. The method includes configuring a table associating at least one emergency call session transfer number with a plurality of emergency call session transfer nodes, each node being identified in the table by an address. Upon receiving a request to transfer an emergency call session from a first access network to a second access network, the request including an emergency call session transfer number, the table is used to determine at least one address of a transfer node associated with the transfer number contained in the request to transfer the request. The transfer request is then sent to the at least one determined address.

Abstract: A method for controlling a session for providing a certain service, at least one data stream being associated with the session. The method includes: obtaining a session control policy from a session control message, or generating such a policy as a function of a type of the service, which session control policy is to be implemented in the event of at least one data stream being inactive, i.e. in the event of a data stream associated with the session not being set up, or being released prematurely; sending the session control policy in a session control message to a control entity in charge of implementing the session control policy; and on detecting inactivity of at least one data stream, implementing the session control policy.

Abstract: A method of maintaining transport address associations in a transport address translation entity connected in series between a first device and a second device is disclosed. The first device can use a first transport protocol to send a first message to cause the transport address translation entity to make a first association of a first public address with a first private address. On receiving a response to the first message from the second device, the first device can use a second transport protocol to send a second message to cause the transport address translation entity to make a second association of a second private address with a second public address and with the second transport protocol. The second message can contain correspondence information that is also contained in the first message and/or in the response to the first message.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a selection method enabling a first user of an IP network to select one client device from a plurality of client devices of a second user connected to the IP network. The method comprises the client device of the first user sending a request to the second user the request being of a dedicated type or having a header containing a dedicated indicator. At least one of the client devices of the second user that has received the request responds to the first user message via a request indicating the technical capabilities of the client device of the second user and requests the client device of the first user to supply the technical capabilities of that client device of the first user. The method may have applications to IMS networks.

Abstract: Disclosed is a verification method comprising reception of a registration request at a multimedia IP network core, the registration request containing a public identity of a user. The method also comprises interrogation of a user data server of the network core, comprising the transmission of a check request to the user data server in order to check a user's right to be registered with the registration server, the check request containing the public identity and a private identity. The method may be carried out by an interrogation server located upstream of the registration server. In addition, a piece of information is inserted by the interrogation server into the check request before it is sent to the user data server, the piece of information indicating if the private identity has been generated by the entity or received in the registration request.

Abstract: A method of dynamically updating DNS information in an IP network. A first entity of the IP network, distinct from DNS servers of the IP network, receives a request from a second entity of the network, likewise distinct from the DNS servers but possessing a copy of DNS information, constituting a record in at least one DNS server of the IP network. The first entity responds to the request by sending a message to the second entity, including an indication about the need to modify the copy. On receiving the message, the second entity determines whether the indication includes at least one additional instruction. If so, the second entity: performs a DNS interrogation, and on receiving a response, modifies its copy of the DNS information based the response and the additional instruction; or modifies its copy of the DNS information based on the additional instruction without performing a DNS interrogation.

Abstract: A processing method for use in a communications network to process a service request relating to a user. During a first stage referred to as a “detection” stage an interrogation server interrogates a subscriber server in order to obtain an identifier of a nominal registration server to which it transfers the service request, and in the event of the transfer failing, it interrogates the subscriber server in order to obtain the capabilities that a registration server needs to possess in order to be capable of delivering the services authorized for the user. Once the nominal registration server is considered to be unreachable, a second stage is started, referred to as an “optimization” stage, during which a single transfer is made to registration servers of the service request relating to a user.

Abstract: A fraud detection method which may be performed by an HSS server in an IMS network is provided. It may comprise receiving a message from an I-CSCF or an S-CSCF entity, the message mentioning a public identity and a private identity and verifying the validity and the consistency of said public and private identities, the message also mentioning at least one address of a user in the IMS network. If invalidity or inconsistency is found, the method may include storing information to the effect that a fraud has been detected for a set comprising the public identity, the private identity and the at least one address.

Abstract: Methods and devices for processing a request for connecting a first access network to a core network are disclosed. In some embodiments, the methods comprise receiving a request to hand over to the first network a communication that is set up on a second network, the request including an identifier of the communication, information about a media session associated with the communication on the first network, and information representative of treatment to be applied on the second network to a media session associated with the communication; identifying a second connection entity for connecting the second network to the core network and through which the communication on the second network is passing; transmitting the identifier and the information to the second entity; and transferring to the core network the request together with the information relating to the media session and an identifier of the communication in the core network.

Abstract: A method for the transmission of a message by a server of a multimedia IP core network is disclosed. In one aspect, following the reception, by the server, of a request from a terminal to register with the core network, the registration request proposing an authentication method for the establishment of a secure tunnel between the terminal and an entity for the connection of the terminal to the core network. The transmission method may comprise identifying an access network used by the terminal for registering with the multimedia IP core network, drawing-up, according to the identified access network, a recommendation concerning the establishment or otherwise of the secure tunnel between the terminal and the connection entity for the authentication method, and inserting said recommendation into the message transmitted by the server.

Abstract: A method is provided for changing over from a primary home subscriber server (HSS) to a backup HSS in an IP network, said network having a plurality of call server control function (CSCF) (or application) servers, in which, after detection of a loss of connection between one of said CSCF (or application) servers and a primary HSS to which it is normally connected, the CSCF (or application) server connects itself to a backup HSS. The method also comprises the following steps: a) a predetermined broadcast device is informed of said loss of connection with said HSS; b) said broadcast device sends a predetermined fault message at least to the other CSCF (or application) servers that are normally connected to said primary HSS, said message containing the reference of said primary HSS; and c) said other CSCF (or application) servers connect themselves to said backup HSS.
