  • Patent number: 11950787
Abstract: Cutting instruments and related methods are disclosed herein in which the diameter of the retrograde cutting blade can be adjusted to any of a plurality of diameter settings, allowing the same instrument to be used to form holes of different diameters. The limit diameter can be preset such that, during the cutting operation, the user need not be concerned with selecting the appropriate diameter, but rather can simply deploy the cutting blade until the preset limit is reached. Cutting instruments are also disclosed in which the retrograde cutting blade is distinct from the forward drilling tip and protected within a cavity formed in the body of the instrument when not in use, as are instruments in which the user is given visual and/or tactile feedback to confirm desired positioning of the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 9439644
Abstract: Devices and methods for anchoring tissue to bone are provided herein. In various embodiments, the tissue anchor systems and methods can provide a length of suture having terminal ends coupled to one another via a sliding knot so as to define a suture loop having an adjustable length. After passing a portion of the suture loop through a damaged tissue and coupling the suture loop to bone, the sliding knot can be advanced to shorten the suture loop in order to secure the tissue to bone.

  • Patent number: 8535350
Abstract: A suture anchor comprises a shell and an anchor member. The shell comprises a body having a distal end, a proximal end and sidewalls therebetween defining an axial cannulation therethrough. The anchor member comprises a body having a distal end and a proximal end which is sized to fit within the cannulation. The sidewalls define a lateral cut-out such that with the anchor member received within the cannulation a first lateral portion of the anchor member is exposed laterally and a second, laterally opposite, lateral portion of the anchor member is enclosed by the sidewalls. A friction enhancement on the first lateral portion frictionally engages a bone surface when the suture anchor is disposed within a bone tunnel defined by the bone surface. Suture is trapped between the shell and the anchor and also between the anchor and the bone surface.

  • Patent number: 6932834
Abstract: A suture anchor for affixing soft tissue to bone. The anchor has a hollow outer member, and an actuation member slidably mounted within the outer member. The actuation member has at least two engagement members that are pivotally mounted to the actuation member. Proximal movement of the actuation member with respect to the outer member causes the engagement members to move outward to a deployed position, wherein the engagement members are deployed in bone. A surgical suture is mounted to the anchor.
