  • Publication number: 20220191991
Abstract: A Short Circuit Detection module capable of detecting a fail related with the Short circuit condition in one or more LEDs contained in a series connection string comply with the failure mode (One out-All out) and can send a single failure signal to a body control module (BCM). The Short Circuit Detection module also includes a lamp driver circuit adapted to detect a change in LED current or voltage that is indicative of a LED light source failure and thereafter output the failure signal to the BCM.

  • Patent number: 11143379
Abstract: A light blade body for a lighting device, for example for an automotive vehicle, includes an in-coupling portion configured to be optically coupled to and collect light from a light source, a propagating portion extending along a longitudinal axis between a proximal end and a distal end where the propagating portion is configured to receive light from the in-coupling portion at the proximal end and guide light to the distal end, and wherein the propagating portion includes mixing optics to mix the light in advance of reaching an out-coupling portion. The body includes the out-coupling portion proximate the distal end of the propagating portion and is configured to emit light.

  • Patent number: 11091088
Abstract: A failure detection circuit capable of detecting an outage for a hybrid turn signal lamp is provided. The failure detection circuit is capable of detecting the failure of an incandescent light source and an LED light source and capable of sending a single failure signal to a body control module (BCM). The failure detection circuit includes an outage detection module connected in series between a power supply and an incandescent light source. The failure detection circuit also includes a lamp driver circuit adapted to detect a change in LED current or voltage that is indicative of a LED light source failure and thereafter output the failure signal to the BCM.

  • Patent number: 10551029
Abstract: A lighting device for a motor vehicle is provided, for example a head lamp or a tail lamp. The lighting device includes an array of light sources, a lens assembly having a collimator lens, an inner lens, and an outer lens, and a housing to maintain the lens assembly in fixed relation relative to the array of light sources. The collimator lens includes a central geometry to manage high intensity light from directly above the LEDs and a lateral geometry to manage low intensity light that is offset from the LEDs, such that the light output from the LEDs exits the lens assembly with a homogeneous light distribution. The lighting device is suitable for vehicle applications, including internal lighting applications and external vehicle lighting applications. The lighting device can be manufactured by extrusion, making it well suited for low cost applications, such as interior ambient lighting.

  • Patent number: 10088118
Abstract: Lighting device includes a light source and a light guide body that has an in-coupling portion that collects the light, a propagating portion that carries the collected light, and an out-coupling portion, which has a central light emitting portion with a central exterior surface, an extended light emitting portion with a proximal reflecting surface and an extended exterior surface, and a deflecting element. The central light emitting portion guides a first light portion emerging from the propagating portion towards the central exterior surface where it is emitted. The deflecting element guides a second light portion emerging from the propagating portion towards the extended light emitting portion, which reflects the second light portion towards the extended exterior surface where it is also emitted. The central surface generates light to satisfy light distribution standards while the addition of the extended light emitting areas assures that a minimum light emitting area is satisfied.
