  • Patent number: 11028418
Abstract: Recombinant microorganisms configured for enhanced production of compounds such as 2-pyrone-4,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDC) and methods of using the recombinant microorganisms for the production of these compounds. The recombinant microorganisms include one or more modifications that reduce 2-pyrone-4,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDC) hydrolase activity, 4-carboxy-2-hydroxy-6-methoxy-6-oxohexa-2,4-dienoate (CHMOD) cis-trans isomerase activity, 4-carboxy-2-hydroxy-6-methoxy-6-oxohexa-2,4-dienoate (CHMOD) methyl esterase activity, and/or vanillate/3-O-methylgallate O-demethylase activity. The recombinant microorganisms can be used to generate PDC from media comprising plant-derived phenolics, such as syringyl phenolics, guaiacyl phenolics, and p-hydroxyphenyl phenolics. The plant-derived phenolics can be derived from pretreated lignin, including depolymerized lignin or other chemically altered lignin.

  • Publication number: 20210047553
Abstract: Drilling fluids having improved rheology under downhole temperature and pressure. The improved rheology (IR) drilling fluids are particularly suited for use in deepwater drilling operations. The IR drilling fluids are invert emulsion fluids with viscosifier to rheology modifier weight ratios between about 6 and about 14. The IR drilling fluids exhibit low shear yield point variance and/or yield point variance of below 60 percent based on high-temperature, high-pressure viscometer measurements.

  • Publication number: 20200055335
Abstract: The present invention relates to new vulcanisable elastomeric compositions for components of tyres, comprising modified silicate fibres as fillers. The silicate fibres are modified according to the process with controlled pH of the invention. In addition, the invention regards components of tyres, comprising elastomeric materials obtainable by vulcanisation of said compositions, and tyres for vehicles comprising one or more of said components. The vulcanised elastomeric materials according to the invention are characterised by good static and dynamic mechanical properties, in particular by particularly low hysteresis. Advantageously the tyres of the invention comprising one or more of said components have a limited rolling resistance.

  • Patent number: 10387543
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically mapping English phonemes to graphemes to support better reading and spelling instruction may include a mapping process for systematically dividing text words into graphemes made up of one or more text characters corresponding to appropriately identified phonemes (which may be represented by one or more phonetic characters). The process may also include automatically correlating each phoneme of a word with a grapheme representing the phoneme in order to produce a phoneme-to-grapheme map that may be optimized for educational use. Some embodiments may include a teaching process for presenting the results of the mapping process to students.
