    Abstract: A method for inhibiting corrosion of pipelines and other metal surfaces, particularly those used in the oil-and-gas industry, is disclosed. The method comprises treating a brine-exposed metal surface with a film-forming composition. The composition comprises a quaternary surfactant, which is made by reacting a polyalkylene glycol (PAG), a haloalkanoic acid, and a tertiary fatty amine that optionally incorporates amide or ester functionality. The surfactant comprises a PAG monoester quat and a PAG diester diquat and may have other components. The quaternary surfactants provide good corrosion protection and can partition effectively from an oily phase into a brine phase in the absence of agitation. The surfactants are easy to synthesize economically and have structures that can be tailored to meet local HLB requirements.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to compositions containing polymer matrix, fiber and/or additives which are suitable for load bearing applications for medical devices. The matrix can be formed from a group of polymers which resorb inside the body after implantation. These compositions contain reinforcing fibers that are incorporated into a resorbable polymer matrix to improve properties such as mechanical. The reinforcing fibers can be resorbable, non-resorbable, natural, or metallic. Additives can be incorporated into the matrix material or the fibers or both to provide a secondary effect. These additives can be bioceramics to provide an osteoconductive effect; antimicrobial particles such as silver; coloring agents, and radiopaque additives to make the implants visible under fluoroscopy. The additives may also contribute to improve mechanical properties.

    Abstract: A non-toxic, alcohol-free disinfectant and sanitizing composition comprising a non-ionic surfactant system, an alkylated vegetable oil, a sodium-containing base, benzalkonium chloride, citric acid and purified water for use on skin, hands and hard surfaces. The materials from which it is manufactured are all renewable, non-toxic, alcohol-free, nonflammable and the composition is readily biodegradable. The composition does not rely upon alcohol to produce its antimicrobial effects. The invention provides effective alternative to alcohol-based disinfectant and sanitizers and may be particularly useful in personal care and cleaning household products for schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels and supermarkets. Furthermore, the invention also met the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and protocols for disinfectants on hard surfaces.
