  • Publication number: 20220409778
Abstract: The present invention is directed to compositions containing polymer matrix, fiber and/or additives which are suitable for load bearing applications for medical devices. The matrix can be formed from a group of polymers which resorb inside the body after implantation. These compositions contain reinforcing fibers that are incorporated into a resorbable polymer matrix to improve properties such as mechanical. The reinforcing fibers can be resorbable, non-resorbable, natural, or metallic. Additives can be incorporated into the matrix material or the fibers or both to provide a secondary effect. These additives can be bioceramics to provide an osteoconductive effect; antimicrobial particles such as silver; coloring agents, and radiopaque additives to make the implants visible under fluoroscopy. The additives may also contribute to improve mechanical properties.

  • Publication number: 20210122916
Abstract: The present invention is directed to bioresorbable polymer blend compositions with tunable mechanical properties for manufacturing medical devices. These blends are multicomponent blends, comprise multiple polymer components and may or may not require additives in the form of fibers or particles for the potential enhancement of mechanical and/or biological properties.

  • Patent number: 10258397
Abstract: A bone anchor includes: a main body defining a longitudinal axis and including a head; at least one insertion hole which extends from a first opening formed in the head to a second opening formed in the main body, the at least one insertion hole having an axis which is arranged to be inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the main body at an angle, and the insertion hole being configured to receive and guide therethrough a pin-shaped element to be anchored within a bone or bone fragment; and a locking device configured to lock the position of the pin-shaped element inserted within the at least one insertion hole in an axial direction.
