  • Patent number: 8243074
Abstract: A dynamic financial caricature graphic whereby financial data associated with a user is obtained from one or more sources. The financial data associated with a user obtained from one or more sources is then aggregated and/or categorized/re-categorized to generate a personalized financial caricature graphic that is a visual representation of the user and the user's financial situation. The visual characteristics of the dynamic financial caricature graphic, such as size, weight, height, clothing, color, accessories, etc., are chosen based on the financial data associated with a user obtained from one or more sources and/or one or more criteria provided. The user's financial data is then monitored and the visual characteristics of the dynamic financial caricature graphic are changed and/or updated in accordance with changes in the financial data associated with the user obtained from the one or more sources.

  • Publication number: 20070199078
Abstract: The invention refers to mono- and divalent (diabody) single chain Fv (scFv) antibody fragments, obtained by recombinant DNA techniques from the anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) monoclonal antibody (Mab) CB/ior-CEA. 1. This antibody has high affinity for CEA and is employed in the diagnosis and follow-up of human colorectal tumors. As the original Mab, the monovalent fragment and the diabody exhibit high affinity for human CEA and recognize an epitope dependent of carbohydrate conservation. The monovalent scFv fragment and the diabody have affinity constants for CEA of (5.0±0.4)×109 L mol?1 and (2.8±0.3)×1010 L mol?1, respectively. These two fragments do not show cross reactivity with human normal cells and tissues, exception made of the normal colonic mucosa, where CEA is occasionally present.

  • Publication number: 20070092146
Abstract: A method and system are provided where image data is encoded in the spatial domain, and transformed in a two dimensional transform process to thereby recover a frequency domain representation of the image data. The frequency domain representation is then quantized to obtain an integer representation. The integer representation is ordered by frequency. Then, the hi-frequency coefficients are recreated and intelligently randomized at selective frequencies. This provides high quality encoded picture results, with fewer artifacts than those that would result from conventional approaches afflicted by artifacts due to loss of high frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20070064815
Abstract: A method, system and device are provided for pre-filtering device for filtering a video signal prior to digitally encoding. The method includes receiving at least one input picture and at least one reconstructed picture from an encoding process and performing an in-loop temporal filtering process using at least one input picture and at least one reconstructed picture from an encoding process to output a pre-filtered video signal for use in an encoding process. The result is enabling an encoding process to produce an output with increased temporal correlation between adjacent pictures regardless of the coding type, since the artifacts introduced by the encoding process are also considered by the process.

  • Publication number: 20070019189
Abstract: The invention provides a cuvette apparatus having two cavities that are in fluid communication with each other. The first cavity is larger than the second cavity an receives a fluid to be studied. The second cavity holds the fluid for analysis and is bounded by at least two thin walled windows that allow superior transmission of UV waves, The invention also provides a cuvette cap that can be affixed to the cuvette and which seals the cuvette, thus preventing potentially dangerous vapors from escaping from the cuvette.

  • Publication number: 20060193383
Abstract: A system and method for decoding a digital video data stream. In one aspect, a plurality of hardware acceleration modules are used together with a core processor. The accelerators operate in a decoding pipeline wherein, in any given stage, each accelerator operates on a particular macroblock of video data. In the subsequent pipeline stage, each accelerator works on the next macroblock in the data stream, which was worked on by another one of the accelerators in the previous stage. The core processor polls all of the accelerators during each stage. When all accelerators finish their tasks for a given stage, the core processor initiates the next stage. In another aspect, two variable-length decoders are employed to simultaneously decode two macroblock rows of a video frame. Each variable-length decoder works to decode an assigned row and the rows are variable-length decoded in parallel.

  • Publication number: 20060173765
Abstract: A method and computer program product are presented for selecting and arranging an appropriate combination of network components, or elements, in a communications network. The selection of network components is done in a manner that maximizes the net present value of cash flow resulting from the provision of communications services between nodes of the network. The method comprises the steps of receiving information that constrains network design and price establishment, and then using the constraint information to select a combination of network components for each link in the communications network. According to the invention, the selection of network components is performed for each of several successive time periods, effectively planning the evolution of the network. The selections are made so that the network components satisfy demand over time while maximizing the net present value of the cash flow that results from the provision of communications services.

  • Publication number: 20060056517
Abstract: Means of communicating between modules in a decoding system. A variable-length decoding accelerator communicates with a core decoder processor via a co-processor interface. In one embodiment, other decoding accelerators, in addition to the variable-length decoder, are adapted to provide status data indicative of their status to a co-processor status register. In another embodiment, a decoding accelerator is controlled by providing commands to the accelerator via posted write operations and polling the accelerator to determine whether the command has been performed. In still another embodiment, a first hardware accelerator communicates with a core decoder processor via a co-processor interface and other decoding accelerators, in addition to the first hardware accelerator, are adapted to provide status data indicative of their status to a co-processor status register.
