  • Patent number: 10580295
Abstract: A vehicular safety system employing an adaptive epidemic information dissemination protocol running on a wireless ad-hoc network composed by neighboring vehicles and roadside stations. The protocol is based on storage and re-transmission of messages by vehicle on-board units; both storage time and re-transmission period are adaptively adjusted to make information spread through the network reasonably certain. An on-board vehicle system monitors a speed and acceleration to detect collisions or any other dangerous situations that might compromise the safety; when such an event is detected a time-stamped message identifies the vehicle and approximate location and event type. A panic button can trigger an emergency message in an immediate threat situation. Roadside stations add their location to the messages they relay; they also receive messages transmitted from passing vehicles, relaying them to law-enforcement agencies.

  • Patent number: 9842007
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a computing device configured to operate as a particular computing device among a plurality of interconnected computing devices, comprising: a load information obtaining unit configured to obtain, from the particular computing device and from the or each of a group of one or more other computing devices from among the plurality of interconnected computing devices, load information representing the current computational load of the computing device from which the information is obtained; and a load redistribution determination unit configured, in dependence upon the obtained load information, to determine whether or not to redistribute computational load among the particular computing device and the group, and if it is determined to redistribute computational load, to determine the redistribution and to instruct the determined redistribution.

  • Publication number: 20170101859
Abstract: A process for the removal of acid gas from fluid produced from a subterranean formation into a subterranean well includes the steps of producing fluid from the subterranean formation into an area selected from the group consisting of the subterranean well, a production tube in the well, an annular space defined therebetween, and combinations thereof so as to produce a production fluid containing acid gas; and introducing an aqueous solution of an active ingredient selected from the group consisting of Na2CO3, NaOH, and combinations thereof into the area so as to contact the aqueous solution with the fluid as the fluid travels from a down-hole production tube to a surface well facility so as to contact the active ingredient with the acid gas and thereby remove the acid gas from the production fluid.

  • Patent number: 9521191
Abstract: A method for distributing load among interconnected computing devices, each computing device having a designated position in each dimension of an array of designated positions, the method comprising, individually, at one or more computing devices per position in a series of positions in one dimension of n-dimensions, in which one dimension and one direction is assigned as a load transfer direction, executing a process including: obtaining an indication of current capacity for additional load at each member of a group of computing devices from among the computing devices; transferring load from the executing computing device to a member of the group at which it is indicated that there is capacity for additional load; where membership of the group is restricted to a computing device on the load transfer direction side of the executing computing device in the one dimension.
