  • Publication number: 20140056123
Abstract: Method and system of failure handling in a radio access network that minimizes the recovery time when a core node fails by storing the routing information of the core node and, whenever said core node fails, loading the routing information in an auxiliary node with the same hardware and software configuration as the core node. The traffic received at the core node is then routed to the auxiliary node through a physical connection that is transparent to the radio access network. The amount of routing information required by this system is minimal, and thus the recovery time is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 8229388
Abstract: Methods and associated apparatus and programs for computers for operating geolocation devices are provided. The methods include determining the duration of a time interval during which the device is configured to remain active, responsive to a comparison between an estimate of benefit of remaining on for that time interval and an estimate of cost of remaining on for that time interval. The estimates of cost and benefit may be determined in response to user-selected parameters where by the end-user may effect a trade-off between battery life and receiver sensitivity. The methods also include varying the maximum duration of each listening period whereby to conserve battery power.

  • Patent number: 7489634
Abstract: The invention refers a method of regulating the traffic that may be used between a SIP User Agent (SIP-UA) and a SIP Proxy in high traffic load situations, like in a telephony-SIP inter-working senario where the MGC in the inter-working gateway is acting as a SIP-UA. Thus, a method to fit the traffic between these two nodes into some margins which suit both node capabilities. The method comprises two procedures. The first procedure proposes a mechanism for any of both nodes, so called requesting node, to indicate the opposite node to act upon its traffic towards the requesting node. The reference for such decision is the current traffic being received at the requesting node at that very same moment. Any further traffic regulation indication will be related to the corresponding traffic level at the moment every new indication is issued, not necessarily being related to the traffic level being handled as previous indications were sent.

  • Patent number: 7149299
Abstract: System and methods for allowing the extension of the ISDN/GSM Call Completion to Busy Subscriber Supplementary Service across a Network Boundary between a general Switched Circuit Network (SCN) using ISUP as call control protocol, and an IP Packet Network using SIP as session control protocol. The methods define a set of new protocol elements to be included in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) in order to make it possible to implement the required service logic in SIP User Agents and Clients. The methods also define the set of sequences, timers and use cases that a Network Gateway must fulfil in order to allow users from both networks to invoke the service for calls going through the Network Gateway in question; the Network Gateway represents an end-point for both SCN and SIP domains.
