Patent number: 11609796Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and other techniques for managing a computing resource shared by a set of online entities. A system can receive a request from a first online entity to reserve capacity of the computing resource. The system determines a relative priority of the first online entity and identifies a reservation zone that corresponds to the relative priority of the first online entity. The system determines whether to satisfy the request based on comparing (i) an amount of the requested capacity of the computing resource and (ii) an amount of the portion of unused capacity of the computing resource designated by the reservation zone that online entities having relative priorities at or below the relative priority of the first online entity are permitted to reserve.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2017Date of Patent: March 21, 2023Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Jose Casillas, Ozan Demir, Brent Welch, Mikhail Basilyan, Roy Peterkofsky, Timothy Smith, Philipp Keller

Publication number: 20220028373Abstract: Methods for automatically evaluating ASR outputs and providing annotations, including corrections, on the transcriptions—in order to improve recognition—may be based on an analysis of sessions of user voice queries, utilizing time-ordered ASR transcriptions of user voice queries (i.e., user utterances). This utterance-based approach may involve extracting both session-level and query-level characteristics from a voice query sessions and identifying patterns of query reformulation in order to detect erroneous transcriptions and automatically determine an appropriate correction. Alternative, or in addition, ASR outputs may be evaluated based on user behavior. The outcomes may be classified as positive or negative. An ASR transcription may be labeled using the description of the outcome. The labeled transcription may be used as training data to train a model to output improved transcriptions of voice queries.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2021Publication date: January 27, 2022Inventors: Wenyan Li, Ferhan Ture, Jose Casillas, George Thomas Des Jardins

Publication number: 20210213263Abstract: Various embodiments of an oral delivery capsule device for delivering an active agent to a part of a gastrointestinal (GI) tract of a subject are described. The capsule device may include a capsule body configured to travel along the GI tract. The capsule device may include a reservoir configured to contain an active agent for delivery to the GI tract of the subject. The oral delivery capsule device may include an actuation feature configured to provide a delivery force thereby causing the dispensing of the active agent. The oral delivery capsule device may include an actuation control feature configured to prevent actuation of the actuation feature under a first condition and allow actuation under a second condition. Related systems and methods are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2019Publication date: July 15, 2021Inventors: Christopher A. Rhodes, Jose Casillas

Publication number: 20060222050Abstract: An insulative, high temperature receptacle is provided. Preferably the receptacle is made from ceramic using a ceramic injection molding (CIM) or dry press operation. Such an operation allows for a single piece ceramic receptacle body to include features for assembly to be integrated into the single piece. Conductive electrical terminals may then be inserted to complete the assembly. The receptacle body includes a mounting interface that allows the receptacle to be mounted in, for example, an appliance. Since ceramic is non-conductive, a standard inexpensive two-wire temperature probe may be utilized for applications in a cooking appliance. The ceramic body includes a groove to receive a male connector portion, and the electrical terminals are biased to provide a secure electrical and mechanical contact during operation. A terminal separation structure is also provided to ensure electrical isolation between the electrical terminals thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2005Publication date: October 5, 2006Applicant: Robertshaw Controls CompanyInventors: Michael Byrne, Gustavo Canales, Jose Casillas, Angel Espinoza, James Kimble, Brian Orloff, Pablo Vallejo

Publication number: 20050117685Abstract: A method for expanding the operating domain of a boiling water nuclear reactor that permits safe operation of the reactor at low core flows is described. The operating domain is characterized by a map of the reactor thermal power and core flow. In an exemplary embodiment, the method for expanding the operating domain of a boiling water nuclear reactor permits operation of the reactor between about 120 percent of rated thermal power and about 85 percent of rated core flow to about 100 percent of rated thermal power and about 55 percent of rated core flow. The method includes determining an elevated load line characteristic that improves reactor performance, performing safety evaluations at the elevated load line to determine compliance with safety design parameters, and performing operational evaluations at the elevated load line. The method also includes defining a set of operating conditions for the reactor in an upper operating domain characterized by the elevated load line.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2003Publication date: June 2, 2005Inventors: Jose Casillas, Eugene Eckert, Phuong Tran

Publication number: 20040039924Abstract: System and method for securing a computing device using a master cryptographic key that is bound to the device. The master key is used to derive sensitive data that is transferred to storage that is only accessible in a restricted mode of operation. The master key is used to derive one or more application keys that are used to secure data that is specific to an application/device pair. Non-privileged programs can request functions that run in a more restricted mode to use these application keys. The restricted mode program checks the integrity of the non-privileged calling program to insure that it has the authority and/or integrity to perform each requested operation. One or more device authority servers may be used to issue and manage both master and application keys.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2003Publication date: February 26, 2004Inventors: Robert W. Baldwin, Jean-Paul Abgrall, John D. Barr, Jose A. Casillas, David P. Jablon, Timothy J. Markey, Pannaga Kotla, David Pitard, Kai Wang, Stephen D. Williams

Publication number: 20030037237Abstract: Systems and methods for device authentication using a master key that is stored in protected non-volatile memory. The master key is used to derive sensitive data that is transferred to storage that is only accessible in a privileged mode of operation of the computing system. The sensitive data and the master key are not directly accessible by programs that are not running in the privileged mode of operation. The master key is used to derive one or more application keys that are used to secure data that is specific to an application/device pair. Non-privileged programs can request functions that run in the privileged mode to use these application keys. The privileged mode program checks the integrity of the non-privileged calling program to insure that it has the authority and/or integrity to perform each requested operation. One or more device authority servers are used to issue and manage both master and application keys.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2001Publication date: February 20, 2003Inventors: Jean-Paul Abgrall, Robert W.
