  • Patent number: 8397749
Abstract: An oil jet assembly includes a body, a tube, a cap insert, a ball, and a spring. The body includes a bore passing longitudinally through the body; a tube aperture passing through the body near a first end of the body; and an opening at a second and opposite end of the body. The tube is attached to the body and in fluid communication with the tube aperture. The cap insert is positioned within the bore of the body. The cap insert includes a bore that passes longitudinally through the cap insert to form a wall. The cap insert also includes an oil exit aperture passing though the wall and is in fluid communication with the bore of the body. The ball and spring are positioned within the bore of the insert cap. The spring is positioned between the ball and the first end of the body.

  • Patent number: 7753592
Abstract: Bearing caps and methods for manufacturing bearing cap are disclosed. Bearing cap includes a body that comprises an abutment surface, a bearing surface, an exterior surface, and a recess portion. The abutment surface provides for the bearing cap to be coupled to an engine along a flat and even surface. The bearing surface provides for the bearing cap to at least partially capture the bearing shaft to secure the bearing shaft when the bearing cap is abutted to the engine. The recess portion extends into the body of the bearing cap from the exterior surface to reduce the weight of the bearing cap. The recess portion can be located anywhere along the exterior surface and be any shape and dimension that retains sufficient structural integrity of the bearing cap to secure the balance shaft to the engine.

  • Publication number: 20100170463
Abstract: A powder metal rocker arm is provided. The rocker arm may be connected to a cylinder head of an engine to assist in transferring motion between engine components. The rocker arm includes a pivot aperture formed therein to facilitate pivoting of the rocker arm with respect to the cylinder head. The rocker arm is formed of a metal alloy powder. The metal alloy powder is compacted to form an intermediate member. Secondary features, such as apertures and other weight reducing features may be formed in the intermediate member. The intermediate member is then sintered to form the rocker arm.
