  • Patent number: 11583881
Abstract: An automated system for identifying a watering zone malfunction includes a sensor and a controller. The watering zone includes a valve that couples an input conduit to an output conduit. The output conduit terminates at one or more water distributors. The sensor is for capturing mechanical perturbations of the watering zone. The controller is configured to: store a profile defining at least one profile parameter based upon a transient operation of the zone in an intact state, receive the signal from the sensor during a watering operation when the zone is in an unknown state, compute a operation parameter based upon the signal for at least one time window of receiving the signal, determining a malfunction exists, and determine whether to take further action based upon the comparison.

  • Patent number: 10816610
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a substrate having a smoothly bending surface to fit into a human hand. The substrate includes a start test switch, a first connector to couple to a first end of a cable, and a second connector to couple to a second end of the cable. The cable has an impedance. The electronic circuit is coupled to the, first connector and the second connector. In operation, the electronic circuit provides a first signal when the first end of the cable is coupled to the first connector and the second end is coupled to the second connector, the start switch is activated, and the impedance is between a minimum impedance value and a maximum impedance value. The electronic circuit provides a second signal when the first end of the cable is coupled to the first connector and the second end is coupled to the second connector, the start switch is activated, and the impedance is greater than the maximum impedance value.

  • Publication number: 20050092904
Abstract: A position-measuring circuit is described for use with an analog position encoder of the kind comprising a code member and at least two sensors for sensing successive marks on the code member during relative movement between the code member and sensors, the sensors providing two oscillating quadrature signals. The circuit comprising means for obtaining a relatively coarse measure of position by detecting successive instants t0-t3 at which the amplitudes of the sensor signals are equal or at which the amplitude of one signal is equal to the inverse of the amplitude of the other signal. The amplitude of one of the signals or its inverse is stored at each detection instant to alternately establish relatively high and low threshold levels. A fine measure of position at an arbitrary instant T is obtained as a function of the instantaneous amplitude P of one of the signals and the difference between neighbouring high and low thresholds levels.

  • Publication number: 20050024413
Abstract: A sensor system for detecting skew in print media along the feed path of a hardcopy device is disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention the system is arranged to generate a first image of a portion of print media at a first position along the feed path and to generate a second image of the portion of print media at a second position along the feed path, the system is arranged to compare the first and second images and thereby detect a change in the angle of skew of the media between the first and second positions.
