  • Publication number: 20130052003
Abstract: A gas turbine engine compressor has a compressor case comprising spaced apart inner and outer walls. An axial rotor is positioned within the outer wall. A bearing structure supports the axial rotor for rotation. A plurality of inlet guide vanes are coupled to the outer wall of the compressor case and radially extend inwardly, wherein each of at least a sub-set of said inlet guide vanes comprises a radial bore. Nested tie rods are received within a respective one of the inlet guide vane radial bores. Each tie rod comprises an outward end attached to the compressor case outer wall and an inward end attached to the compressor case inner wall.

  • Patent number: 7670110
Abstract: A fluid pump assembly includes a rotatable component that can be rotated about an axis and a static vane assembly located adjacent to the rotatable component. The static vane assembly includes a circumferential surface axially spaced from the rotatable component, and one or more vanes extending from the circumferential surface toward the rotatable component. The one or more vanes are configured to produce a radial load on the rotatable component when the rotatable component is rotating about the axis and a fluid is present between the static vane assembly and the rotatable component.

  • Patent number: 7320178
Abstract: A standoff for a cold plate and a cold plate using the standoff are characterized by a coil pack consisting of a plurality of individual fluid conveying tubes formed into a coil pack having a desired configuration and held in place by a plurality of retaining wires. The standoffs are slidably attached to the retaining wires and each comprises an elongate body that is triangular in cross-section, has a bottom end, an apex end opposite from the bottom end and a longitudinal bore toward the bottom end and through which a retaining wire extends. The standoffs are made of aluminum and are of sufficient size to maintain their structural integrity during a casting process in which the coil pack is placed in a mold and molten aluminum is poured around the coil pack.

  • Patent number: 5549326
Abstract: An air bag (10) is made from a single panel (40) of fabric material which is folded and sewn to define an inflation fluid volume. The panel (40) has a generally rectangular configuration. Two retainer portions (44, 46) of the panel (40) project from opposite ends of a main body portion (42) of the panel. The panel (40) is folded along a fold line (140) so that the retainer portions (44, 46) overlie one another, as do end portions (70, 72) of the panel. The retainer portions (44, 46) and end portions (70, 72) of the panel (40) are sewn together, and a retainer (180) is then sewn into the joined retainer portions.

  • Patent number: 5330119
Abstract: A method and apparatus for simultaneously preparing and feeding coils of strip stock into a strip processing line. Two coil support mechanisms are provided, each rotatably supporting a coil for uncoiling. A takeoff mechanism spaced apart from the strip processing line is adapted to peel a free leading end of the strip stock from a coil. The leading end is fed to a holding mechanism adapted to receive and hold the leading end in a predetermined position. A transfer mechanism is provided for successively transferring each coil support mechanism and associated holding mechanism from the takeoff mechanism to an aligning mechanism adjacent the processing line and back to the takeoff mechanism. The strip stock is moved by pinch rollers from the holding mechanism, through the aligning mechanism, and into the processing line. One coil may be prepared for feeding in the takeoff mechanism while the other coil is being fed into the processing line.
