  • Patent number: 7649842
Abstract: A method of selective dormant data session reactivation in a radio access network includes calculating an activation rate threshold as a function of a first plurality of packets received over a first time interval, where the first plurality of packets are coupled to reactivate at least one dormant mobile station. The second plurality of packets received in a second time interval are buffered, where each of the second plurality of packets has a destination IP address to reactivate the at least one dormant mobile station. An arrival rate of the second plurality of packets in the second time interval is compared to the activation rate threshold.

  • Patent number: 7394767
Abstract: A method for sharing a total licensed pool between network elements is disclosed. In the method, each of the network elements has a fixed available capacity. In a first step, an offered load capacity limit based on the total licensed pool and the available capacity is determined. Next, each of the network elements communicates a message comprising the offered load capacity limit. Then, each of the network elements monitor for messages. If a message is not received from one of the network elements, the network element that is not communicating is considered a failed network element. Upon detection of the failed network element, the offered load capacity of the failed network element is redistributed.

  • Publication number: 20070136726
Abstract: A tunable processor performance benchmarking method and system (100) estimates candidate software performance on a target processing environment (104) without porting the application. The candidate software's resource consumption is characterized to determine cache hit or miss rates. A test software generator (102) generates test software that is configured to have substantially the same cache miss rates and processor utilization, and its performance is measured when executing on the target processing environment (104). Instruction cache hit rates are maintained for the test software by selectively branching either within a routine (308, 310) that is resident in the instruction cache or to a routine (308, 310) that is not within the instruction cache. Data blocks (332, 334) are also selectively accessed in order to maintain a desired data cache miss rate.

  • Publication number: 20070071018
Abstract: A method of filtering a plurality of data packets may include a radio access network (RAN) receiving the plurality of data packets and determining if a mobile station coupled to the RAN is in a dormant state and a reactivation request is not pending for the mobile station. If the mobile station is in a dormant state and a reactivation request is not pending then a data packet filtering module located at a packet gateway function of the RAN identifies a reactivation request data packet from the plurality of data packets, where the reactivation request data packet is coupled to reactivate the mobile station. The data packet filtering module evaluates the reactivation request data packet against a rule set, where the rule set is unique to the mobile station. The reactivation request data packet is forwarded if data packet filtering module indicates a forward condition; and discarded if the data packet filtering module indicates a discard condition.
