Publication number: 20090229840Abstract: The invention relates to a fire-protection device in the form of an easily-transportable barrier which inhibits fire spread in mountains, wooded areas and similar without having to resort to the felling or controlled burning of trees in order to establish said barrier on a soil devoid of fuel. The inventive device comprises a plurality of coaxially-interconnected modules which adopt a long, cylindrical configuration, the structure of which consists of two parts, namely: a lower fixed part (3) and an upper movable part (5) which are interconnected using telescopic cylinders (6) that enable the movable part (5) to be raised to the height required for the fire-protection barrier. In addition, a plurality of nets (7) and louvers (8), which form the actual fire-protection barrier, are provided between the aforementioned elements. Moreover, a plurality of plates are coupled to each net, such as to form longitudinal and vertical lines, and are articulated with the net (7) along the upper edge thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2006Publication date: September 17, 2009Inventor: Jose Luis Jimenez De Castro Fernandez

Publication number: 20070216481Abstract: The present invention is related to low power low noise amplifiers (LNA) including on/off switching capability, which are preferably used for impulse radio (IR) ultra-wideband (UWB) receivers. In the invention a very low power and high-gain Common-Gate Capacitive Cross Coupling Cascaded LNA is proposed, to provide an optimum gain for large ON times. The invention provides also a Common-Source Cascoded LNA for shorter received pulse widths, with the aim of implementing a fast ON/OFF switching. An input signal is applied to a first amplifying stage and the switching means are coupled to a second amplifying stage so that they do not interfere with the matching network of the first stage. The invention is also related to a method of amplifying a radio frequency signal using a plurality of low noise amplifying elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: SEIKO EPSON CORPORATIONInventors: Jose Luis Jimenez, Diego Pena, Enrique Ojeda, Ignasi Cairo, Masayuki Ikeda

Patent number: 6553158Abstract: An optical resonator having a non-continuous waveguide having first and second confrontingly opposite end faces between which is defined a region and having a continuous optical path defined through the waveguide. The optical resonator can be tuned to a particular resonant wavelength by providing a phase shifter in the region between the first and second end faces and positioning the phase shifter so as to introduce a phase shift in an optical signal propagating through the waveguide and along the optical path. A method for effecting such a phase shift.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2000Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: LNL Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Jose Luis Jimenez

Patent number: 6493482Abstract: An optical switch having an input waveguide and two output waveguides separated by and disposed around a trench. The input waveguide and a first output waveguide have respective optical paths defined by their respective cores which are coaxial with each other. Those waveguides are also separated by a trench having a medium provided therein that has a refractive index different from that of the waveguides. The input waveguide and a second output waveguide are arranged generally on the same side of the trench such that an optical signal passing from the input waveguide to the second output waveguide does not completely traverse the trench.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2000Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: L3 Optics, Inc.Inventors: Kadhair Al-hemyari, Roydn D.
