  • Patent number: 5705607
Abstract: The present invention provides the technique for isolating the toxin of the Sarcocystis protozoa, which may be later used in the production of specific antibodies against the sarcocystine responsible for the symptoms of sarcocystosis. The technique of the invention consists of separating the blood serum of an infected animal followed by dialysis thereof and finally the sample is dried. The technique is more effective when heart muscle material from an intermediate host with Sarcocystis cysts is used to contaminate a carnivorous mammal final host.

  • Patent number: 5676728
Abstract: A plant or part of a plant with or without roots is placed in contact with a solid and/or liquid nutrient composition which includes a compound which can be or which includes components which can be broken down into a sugar. The plant is able to survive without any or with only minimal supplies of water. It is believed that the nutrient composition increases the process of glycolysis in the plant and therefore increases the storage of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and other byproducts and thereby permits continued metabolism of the plant without requiring water.

  • Patent number: 5664546
Abstract: A fuel economizer having a non-magnetic body surrounding a fuel feed pipe and fitted with internal magnets. The fuel economizer includes two half casings of non-magnetic material, joined to each other by a clamp that keeps them attached to the pipe through which the fuel runs. A magnetic field perpendicular to the pipe is generated by a first magnet and a magnetic field axial to the pipe is generated by a second magnet. A third magnet has a perpendicular field with its poles inverted with respect to the first magnet. The magnets are separated an equal distance from each other. Utilizing low carbon iron pieces in the magnet housing, the flow is concentrated toward the inside of the conduit to prevent exit of the flow towards the outside of the economizer.

The external means comprise a plurality of two-tiered containers, each sealed off below and all around its sides by a wall the inner surface of which is covered by a membrane of a impermeable and chemically resistent material. A concrete lid seals each tank and has at least one orifice communicating with the load inlet of the corresponding tank. The walls of the container have at least one orifice through which a respective pipe passes for dispensing fuel and means for coupling slings for hoisting and lowering the container. Such coupling means are later used for attaching deadweights after installation.

  • Patent number: 5521310
Abstract: A process to obtain benzoxazines useful for the synthesis of Ofloxazine, Levofloxazine and derivatives. The benzoxacines (I) where Xb is an halogen and R.sub.1 is H, alkyl or alkenyl of up to 6 atoms of C or aryl, can be obtained by means of cycling a compound of formula (II) through the reaction with triphenylphosphine and ethyl azodicarboxilate. The compounds of formula (II) can be obtained through the reaction of a compound (III) with an adequate epoxide. Through the use of the adequate chiral epoxide it is possible to obtain the enantiomerically desired intermediate and, therefore and selectively, it is possible to obtain the desired final product with the adequate enantiomeric form without the need to carry out a resolution stage. The Compounds (I) are useful and key intermediates for the synthesis of the antimicrobials Oflixazine and Levofloxazine.
