  • Patent number: 6029467
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning air through the removal of moisture from air to be conditioned comprising a first path for a first flow of air to be dehumidified, the first path having an input end and an output end with a first blower between the input end and the output end to effect the movement of air from the input end to the output end; a second path for a second flow of air, the second path being independent of the first path and adapted to remove moisture from the second flow of air, the second path being in a closed loop configuration with a second blower for continuously moving the second flow of air around the second path and with a plurality of temperature changing devices sequentially positioned in the second path including an air precooling device, a cooling condenser device for condensing moisture from the second flow of air, a reheating device coupled to the precooling device, and a heating device; and a desiccant wheel with a motor to rotate the wheel in a continuous path of travel th

  • Patent number: 5975192
Abstract: An air conditioning system comprising a chamber with a heated air space at a first temperature; a heat sink located in proximity to the chamber, the heat sink being provided with cooled media at a second temperature lower than the first temperature; a plastic heat exchanger located within the chamber with an associated fan for the movement of air within the chamber across the heat exchanger; and a plurality of plastic lines coupling the heat exchanger and the cooled media, the lines including a first line to convey water from the heat exchanger in the chamber to the cooled media and a second line to convey water from the cooled media to the heat exchanger in the chamber with an associated pump to effect the flow of water in a closed loop configuration between the cooled media and the heat exchanger whereby the heated chamber air space will be cooled to a lower temperature from the cooled water from the cooled media while the temperature of the cooled media will be heated to a higher temperature from the heate

  • Patent number: 5758511
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for an improved air conditioning system for admitting air from an exterior space, adjusting the temperature and humidity of the exterior air, delivering the adjusted air to an interior space of a structure, removal of exhaust air therefrom and return of the exhaust air to the exterior space and wherein a regenerative desiccant is provided for removing water vapor from the air to be delivered to the interior space and delivering the water vapor to the exhaust air stream and a heat exchanger is provided for removing sensible heat4 from the air to be delivered to the interior space and transferring the sensible heat to the exhaust air stream. The apparatus combines for the first time electric air conditioning reheat and solar energy with desiccant technology, thereby furnishing conditioned air at an 80% reduction fo energy cost. The apparatus for the first time allows the use of waste oil heat to furnish conditioned air at an 80% reduction in energy cost.

  • Patent number: 5582241
Abstract: A conduit for use in directing the flows of primary fluid and a secondary fluid in heat exchanging relationships comprising a plurality of elongated members to direct a flow of a primary fluid in a first path. The first path is comprised of separate generally parallel channels. It includes means to direct a flow of air over, under and between the plurality of elongated members in a second path. The first path and the second path are in spaced alternating relationship in generally parallel planes and with the first path in a first direction and the secondary path in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Coupling means are associated with the input and output ends of the first and second paths whereby when a first fluid is fed through the first paths at a first temperature and a second fluid is fed through the second paths at a second temperature, a heat transfer occurs therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5572987
Abstract: A solar energy system having a component comprising a heat absorber which has a tubular conduit. The heat absorber also has a fin for supporting the conduit. The conduit and fin are fabricated of a dark color for collecting solar energy. A housing surrounds the conduit. The housing includes an axially disposed interior member with a cross section greater than the cross section of the conduit. The housing also includes a plurality of axially disposed exterior members. The interior member and the exterior members are fabricated of a transparent material. The invention further includes at least one end cap which is coupled with respect to one end of the interior tube which has at least one aperture in the end cap.
