  • Patent number: 8698634
Abstract: An integrated monitoring and multichannel communication system for the management of rescue teams, especially those fighting forest fires, comprises a suit, worn by a rescue worker; an electronic system; a telecommunication system; and an information system. The suit integrates fireproof, waterproof, heatproof and impact resistant materials to integrate, protect and allow access to the electronic system. The electronic system collects biometric and location data from the rescue worker, transmitting said data to a panel located in the back of the suit. The telecommunications system sends the biometric, orientation and location data, in real-time through an Ultra High Frequency network, to a computer integrated into a support vehicle, which in its turn sends the data to a server. The information system collects and manages the data to monitor the biometric, orientation and location data, to receive critical alerts and through maps to define deployment strategies for the rescue worker.

  • Publication number: 20090313748
Abstract: The present invention consists of an integrated monitoring and multichannel communication system for the management of rescue teams, especially those fighting forest fires, comprising a suit (1), worn by all operational suited units in the terrain; and electronic system (2); a telecommunication system (4) and an information system (3). The suit integrates fireproof, waterproof, heatproof and impact resistant materials, which as a unit integrate, protect and ease access to the electronic system. The electronic system (2) collects biometric and location data from the operational suited units in the terrain, transmitting said data to a panel located in the back of the suit. The telecommunications system (4) sends the biometric, orientation and location data, in real-time through an Ultra High Frequency network, to a computer integrated into a support vehicle, which in its turn sends the data, via terrestrial or satellite communications, to a server.

  • Publication number: 20070231811
Abstract: A set of genes that are expressed differentially in normal and NASH-predisposed liver, thus constituting the genomic signature of NASH, is provided. The set of genes can be used to discriminate between normal and NASH-predisposed liver tissues. Accordingly, diagnostic assays for classification of pathological grades, prediction of the pathology outcome, selecting and monitoring treatment regimens and monitoring disease progression/regression also are provided.

  • Patent number: 7101324
Abstract: Portable exercise apparatus comprising a collapsible support bench having a pair of movably connected leg members at both ends thereof, the leg members being movable between a storage position wherein they are disposed adjacent to each other and an open support position wherein they are disposed at an angle to each other with their ends separated. Generally laterally extending and substantially parallel support rods are connected to and extend between the upper and lower portions of the leg members at both ends of the support bench. A seat member is movably connected to one of the adjacent upper support rods and is movable between a storage position wherein it is disposed adjacent and substantially parallel to the leg members when they are in the storage position, and a support position wherein it extends across the upper portions of the leg members when they are in the open position and is supported on the upper support rods.

  • Publication number: 20060135420
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of diagnosing non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) using molecular markers. The inventive method consists in detecting and quantifying, in vitro in a hepatic tissue sample, the levels of a protein which can be used as a NASH molecular marker and which is selected from apolipoprotein A1, sub-unit ? of the mitochondrial ATPase, leukotriene A4 hydrolase, keratin 18, guanidine acetate N-methyltransferase, superoxide dismutase, albumin, antioxidant protein 2 (isoform 1), prohibitin 1, methionine adenosyl transferase, long-chain acyl CoA dehydrogenase, selenium binding protein, antioxidant protein 2 (isoform 2), and combinations of same. The invention further consists in comparing the results obtained with the normal values of said proteins in healthy hepatic tissue. Said method can be used to diagnose NASH and/or to assess a patient's potential risk of developing NASH.

Abstract: A time and attendance system and method are provided for monitoring employees at remote worksites such as construction sites. The system comprises one or more portable recording apparatuses. Each of these portable recording apparatuses includes means for identifying its geographical location, a keypad for the employees' entry of an ID upon clocking into or out of a worksite and a digital camera for capturing a visual image of the employees upon each such event. The recording apparatus captures and stores these data on a local database in association with the employees' IDs. The recording apparatus periodically establishes contact, over the Internet or another network, with a central computer to transmit the stored information, including the recording apparatus's geographical location, to the central computer. The central computer stores reference visual images for the employees.
