  • Publication number: 20160108698
Abstract: A method for providing zonal communication interruption in a wellbore, comprising: positioning a plurality of cement diverters axially along an outer surface of a tubular member, each cement diverter having an axial length and an azimuthal extension of less than 360°, wherein the azimuthal position of at least one cement diverter is axially rotated from an adjacent cement diverter; positioning the tubular member within the wellbore; and flowing cement into an annulus formed between an inner surface of the wellbore and the outer surface of the tubular member, wherein the positioning of the plurality of cement diverters provides zonal communication interruption about every 10 to 20 feet (about every 3.0 to about 6.1 meters) axially along the tubular member. An apparatus for providing zonal communication interruption in a wellbore is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9187977
Abstract: A system for stimulating a multi-zone well includes a tubular body apportioned into at least a first zone and a second zone. The system has a first set of plugs placed in pre-drilled holes along the tubular body within the first zone. The plugs in the first set of plugs are fabricated to substantially dissolve upon contact with an acidic stimulation fluid within a first selected time. The system also has a second set of plugs placed in pre-drilled holes along the tubular body within the second zone. The plugs in the second set of plugs are fabricated to substantially dissolve upon contact with the acidic fluid within a second selected time that is greater than the first selected time.

  • Patent number: 9068447
Abstract: A method for stimulating a multi-zone wellbore completed with a string of production casing, including pumping a first volume of acidic fluid into the wellbore under pressure, and then injecting the first volume of acidic fluid into a first zone of interest along the production casing dropping at least one plug into the wellbore, the plug being fabricated from a material that substantially dissolves in the presence of the acidic fluid at or over a selected period of time.

  • Publication number: 20130220604
Abstract: A method of creating a network of fractures in a reservoir is provided. The method includes designing a desired fracture network system, and determining required in situ stresses to create the desired fracture network within the reservoir. The method further includes designing a layout of wells to alter the in situ stresses within the stress field, and then injecting a fracturing fluid under pressure into the reservoir to create an initial set of fractures within the reservoir. The method also includes monitoring the in situ stresses within the stress field, and modifying the in situ stresses within the stress field. The method then includes injecting a fracturing fluid under pressure into the reservoir in order to expand upon the initial set of fractures and to create the network of fractures. A method for producing hydrocarbons from a subsurface formation is also provided herein, wherein a fracture network is created from a single, deviated wellbore production.
