  • Patent number: 5947951
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically transferring a predetermined quantity of a sterile liquid to a vial containing a dry medicament for hydrating the medicament and then transferring the hydrated medicament to a container. To hydrate the medicament, a needle is positioned through a vial septum of the vial and an artificial sensor senses when the needle has been positioned through the vial septum and actuates a pump to transfer a predetermined quantity of sterile liquid into the vial. The needle is then removed from the vial septum and the vial is shaken to mix the liquid and medicament. To transfer the hydrated medicament to a container, another needle is positioned through the vial septum. An artificial sensor senses when the needle has been positioned through the vial septum and actuates the pump to transfer the hydrated medicament to the container.

  • Patent number: 5884457
Abstract: A method of automatically producing a plurality of prefilled, sterile delivery devices with a desired quantity of fluid. The sterile delivery devices each include a hollow barrel with a dispensing nozzle at one end and an open opposite end. A piston plunger is positioned within the open end and is slidable in sealing engagement with the barrel to retain a fluid therein. A tip is secured to the dispensing nozzle. A plurality of the sterile delivery devices are automatically fed along a predetermined path. Tips are then removed from the dispensing nozzles of the sterile delivery devices. The hollow barrels of the sterile delivery devices are then filled through the dispensing nozzles with a desired is quantity of fluid. The dispensing nozzles of the sterile delivery devices are then closed and sealed after the filling step to provide sealed sterile delivery devices with sterile fluid contents.

  • Patent number: 5884264
Abstract: An arrangement and method for identifying mechanical damage in a mechanism having a multiplicity of different sections which generate different actual sounds due to damage in each section, uses a sound sample storage for storing a sound sample of each of the different actual sounds. A selector is connected to the sound sample storage for selecting one of the sound samples corresponding to a section which is suspected of being damaged. A sound generator generates the sound sample selected by the selector, to make the sound sample audible, for use in comparing the sound sample to the actual sound of the section which is suspected of being damaged, for identifying the section which is damaged if the actual sound is similar to the audible sound sample.

  • Patent number: 5171292
Abstract: An electric light bulb and socket system is described. The system includes a bulb with a base having a substantially cylindrical wall and a single groove extending thereinto and thereabout and also includes a socket base with an open cavity therein and retaining springs for retaining the bulb. The retaining springs are mounted within the wall of the socket base, except for the lugs of the retaining springs which extend into the socket base cavity. The lugs of the retaining springs are dimensioned to, upon the insertion of the bulb into the receptacle, protrude into the groove and to seat therewithin. As the lugs are equally spaced about the groove, the lugs exert a balanced spring pressure on the bulb to retain the bulb in the socket. With this system, the insertion of the bulb into the socket is by axial movement without orientation and without rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 5135943
Abstract: The 1H-imidazole derivative compound of formula I: ##STR1## and its nontoxic addition salts, particularly the nitrate addition salt, are more effective as antimycotic agents and are unexpectedly safer than the corresponding prior art compounds, especially the compound in which the sulfur atom of the benzothiophene ring of the above compound is replaced by an oxygen atom. Pharmaceutical compositions containing an effective amount of the compound of formula I, e.g. 1 to 5% by weight, in a pharmaceutical carrier are safer, more effective, and, in some cases, more reliable with fewer side effects than currently used antimycotic preparations.
