  • Publication number: 20150256616
Abstract: In a method for automatically filtering communications, a new networking request from an initiating party is received. A social networking model for a recipient of the new networking request is retrieved. Context information related to prior communications between the recipient and the initiating party from the social networking model for the recipient is used to present the new networking request to the recipient. The social networking model for the recipient is dynamically updated based upon a response by the recipient to the new networking request.

  • Patent number: 8868653
Abstract: In a method for automatically filtering communications, a networking request from an initiating party on an initiating communication device is received. The networking request pertains to a request for communication between the initiating communication device and a recipient communication device of a user over a communication channel. A determination is made of whether the communication channel to be used for the communication matches a communication channel for a previous communication between the initiating party and the user. It is automatically determined whether to grant the networking request, based at least in part on the determination of whether the communication channel for the communication matches the communication channel for the previous communication between the initiating party and the user. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 7826404
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for dynamic error rate management. A wireless station may receive one or more data transfer parameters from another wireless station using a wireless communications protocol. Data may be selected to be transferred between the stations according to the wireless communications protocol based, at least in part, on the one or more data transfer parameters. The one or more data parameters may include a target packet error rate (PER).

  • Patent number: 7467212
Abstract: A method of controlling a social network access control list (ACL) for a shared resource includes monitoring communications to and from a user. Social network data from the communications to and from the user is determined. An access level for the user is determined based on the social network data. The access control list is configured to provide the user the access level determined for accessing the shared resource.

  • Patent number: 7454464
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for responding a networking request. An initiating communication device, representing an initiating party, sends a networking request to a receiving communication device, representing a user, to request to establish a connection between the initiating party and the user. When the receiving communication device receives the networking request, it identifies the identity of the initiating party. The receiving communication device responds the networking request according to a dynamic social network model with respect to the identity of the initiating party. The response either grants or denies the networking request.

  • Publication number: 20040192303
Abstract: Mobile devices, such as communication devices, are frequently lost, stolen, misplaced, or otherwise temporarily or permanently indisposed while the device is storing personal and/or confidential data, such as telephone directories, calendars, account numbers, access codes, access rights to other data, and the like. For a mobile device needing to register itself with a system, the registration process is used to facilitate determining whether access to data associated with the mobile device mobile device data should be granted. For example, if the mobile device includes cellular communication capabilities, the data is secured until the device successfully registers with a cellular network. When registering the mobile device, a check is performed to determine whether loss of control over the mobile device has bee reported. If so, registration fails, and data access and mobile device communication capabilities may be partially or wholly restricted.

  • Publication number: 20020083151
Abstract: A portable appliance has access to database information even when a remote device is turned off. A cache device is designed to be always on. The cache device stores communications from the portable wireless communication device and forwards them to a remote device when it is available. The cache device may also store a copy of a portion of the database.
