    Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing 3 phase input to a welding type power source is disclosed. The power source is capable of receiving wide range of 3 phase input voltage and rectifies the ac input into a dc power capable for welding application. The power source consist of two stages, the first stage is a phase shifted full bridge inverter running near to maximum duty cycle to minimize the losses in the converter which is followed by the second stage buck chopper.
