  • Patent number: 10989473
Abstract: A lining structure for a refractory vessel contains a first layer containing refractory material; a second layer, in communication with and parallel to the first layer, containing a metal layer or component; and a third layer, in communication with and parallel to the second layer, containing refractory material. The metal component in the second layer contains filled transverse passages, between the surface of the second layer in contact with the first layer and the surface of the second layer in contact with the third layer, producing support structures to maintain the structural integrity of the refractory vessel in use.

  • Publication number: 20210023571
Abstract: It is an electrostatic precipitator programmed with selective, individual, fixed sequential switching from the first emission electrode (2), comprised of the electrodes (2.1), (2.2) and (2.3), and onwards, acting so that it will provide the best possible situation for reducing suspended particulate, directing them to accumulate (B) in the collector plates (1) of the precipitator; in such a way that, with indication of the obligation to start the switch on the electrode (2.1) can produce a potential gain of efficiency together with the voltage increase that will be used in the present technology and that determines that the main accumulation occurs in the first electrode, that is, this form of sequencing conditions establishes the best operation of the technology; and thus, resulting in the gain of efficiency and potential reduction of this pollution released to the environment.

  • Patent number: 10507523
Abstract: A lining for a metallurgical vessel is configured to have an engineered porosity. The lining contains a plurality of regions, each extending in a primary plane of the lining, each region having a differing value of total pore or perforation area as measured in a primary plane of the lining. The lining may be used to form part or all of the working surface of the floors or walls of the vessel. In casting use the lining produces an oxidation buffering layer at an interphase of metal melt extending from the interface between metal melt and the walls and floor of the metallurgical vessel, such that when in casting use, the metal flow rate in said oxidation buffering layer is substantially nil, and the concentration of endogenous inclusions, in particular oxides, in said oxidation buffering layer is substantially higher than in the bulk of the metal melt.

  • Patent number: 8631978
Abstract: A tundish assembly, including an element, for preventing or limiting steel reoxidization in the continuous casting of molten steel, is used in combination with a refractory nozzle. The element has an orifice engaging the outer surface of the nozzle, a main surface surrounding the main orifice and having a lowest level lower than the top outer edge of the nozzle inlet portion, and a periphery having an upper face surrounding the main surface of the element. The upper face of the periphery of the element is higher than the main surface of the element and is higher than the surface of the bottom well of the tundish. The main surface of the element is arranged so as to contact molten steel in a tundish.

  • Publication number: 20010015360
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for transferring liquid metal, in particular steel, between an upstream container and a downstream container through a tapping spout of a set of refractory assemblies. The assemblies include at least one mating surface having a shroud channel surrounding the tapping spout. The process includes injecting inert gas and, when desired or necessary, a sealing agent into the shroud channel. The sealing agent is adapted to seal leaks in the shroud channel, thereby reducing aspiration of air into the liquid metal.
